I definitely hope he shows up in the Super Derby, but staying east for the JCGC might be the better option if his owners want to win an Eclipse. If he stubs his toes in the Super Derby against the likely short field, then his reputation will be definitely tarnished. Who knows, Vineyard Haven may win the the JCGC, finish second in the BC Classic, then win the Cigar Mile. Those two wins over older horses might be enough to convince voters in a year when the 3yos keep beating each other. If Summer Bird finished second or a close third behind older horses in his next start, it would basically wrap up an Eclipse, short of MTB winning the Goodwood and Clark or winning the Classic.
