Wow. This is the exact opposite of pure genius. Have you watched the replay? Debussy waited for a spot to open at the top of the stretch...and it did. Pretty perfect in my eye. Gio Ponti angled wide at the midpoint of the far turn, he wasn't seven wide the whole way.
Both had easier trips than Tazeez, by far.
