The republicans have cancelled the work mainly in republican states because once the rail to nowhere is built it is the individual state's responsibility for upkeep and operation. If high speed rail were a good financial risk you'd see private equity develop it. What happened to Warren Buffet?
BTW the steel workers who would be put to work would have last names like Hsu, Lee and Lu and if they were allowed to have pasports they'd be in chinese. Maybe you meant 'iron worker' as they will at least have to build the bridges.
