Chris Archer, RHP, Rays (Double-A Montgomery): 7 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 5 BB, 4 K. Control continues to be the only issue, as the stuff to be a good big league starter is there. 8/17

Has exploded with the Rays by hitting for average, drawing walks, stealing bases, and playing a solid shortstop with an outstanding arm. Shortstops that can hit at the top of the order are worth their weight in gold.
Acquired in the Matt Garza trade, Chirinos is the third piece of the return to reach the majors for the Rays this season, joining Sam Fuld and Brandon Guyer. At first blush, Chirinos’ .265/.341/.378 line appears mediocre, but if you break it down month-by-month he looks better:
April: .176/.253/.191
May: .333/.380/.424
June: .256/.344/.385
July: .324/.419/.622
Brandon Guyer, OF, Rays (Triple-A Durham): 4-for-4, 2 2B, 4 R, R, BB, SB. Has been slumping of late, but still hitting .316/.390/.513 overall in 76 games.
So far looking great for the Rays
