The extension is because they believe in him. But bringing in Tebow addresses issues they had offensively. They struggled in short yardage situations and the wildcat will open stuff up.

I love the move. As long as roles are explained and everyone does what they are supposed to (a big if) it will work out well. If not, they didn't give up much.
Yeah, I'm not sure about the coddling. His first season was a trial by fire, which ended up with a playoff run. Now there were times when he deserved to be yanked, but they had no veteran on the bench to replace him. More importantly they had no veteran to mentor the kid either. Then they get Bruenell and it was much the same, but more importantly he played very well when it counted.

Now I'm not sure what happened last year. There were a lot of Jets fans who haven't been happy with Schotty/play calling for a while. They didn't run the ball well and they didn't protect Sanchez. Once again there were times he could have been pulled, although sometimes it wasn't his fault (the Eagles game comes to mind). But he was flat out awful at times, no arguement from me.

Then the season ends and the whole world gangs up on Sanchez. Some guys came to his defense, but I guess the label has stuck. Is it accurate? I'm not sure. But my point is, that after a season which was shortened by the lockout, lots of complaining at Schotty, players fighting with each other and a severe issues with the offensive line, I think based on his success in his first two seasons, I would have given him a pass for last season and looked forward to a big year this year. Also making sure Sanchez and Holmes are on the same page. He was a major culprit that did nothing but ignite trouble (after getting his payday).

They missed the playoffs by one game and it feels like they are sounding the panic alarms on the QB who played well in his first 2 seasons. If they really have questions about him, then they should have never signed him to the extention and make him sing for his supper this year.
