Default Hollywood Nights 5/19

Last friday night for Hollywood. Going to try to do better than the pair 3 out of 4's I pulled in the early and late quads last week. Here's a look at the early 4.

RACE 1 1 MILE cond. ALW (F) turf
#5 LATE CUDDLE(3rd)-5 year old New Zeland Bred seems to be in the best form of the group. Has hit the board in 14 out of 17 starts (6 wins). She's 2/3 since coming over from NZ.
#1 DANCE TO MY TUNE(2nd)-Hollendorfer mare finally gets some class relief after running her last 8 races in stakes/graded stakes company. Not in love with her 4/35 career and 0/13turf records, but it does look like she has some speed in a race that doesn't look loaded with pace. Also she only lost to a certain almost perfect filly from Cali by over a length at 50-1.

RACE 2 1 MILE 1/6TH MDN 25K
#7 DAVE'S RULER(1st)-He has burned alot of money while running 2nd in his last three starts. Shades come off tonight against what seems like a pretty weak bunch.
#2 WARREN'T TOMMY TOO-Hoping that Pedroza puts gelding on the lead. Depending on what goes on with the 4, he could inherit the lead and look to go wire to wire. He's hit the board twice out of three starts at the distance (a second and a third).
#4 DONATO-Baffert gelding cost 150k and is dropping out of maiden special company. Really hasn't run a step in his three career races. Shows a solid work pattern coming into the race including a bullet on the 10th. Will most likely be a very unappeling price, but a tough horse to toss based on the huge drop, connections and overall weakness of the field.

RACE 3 1 MILE 1/16TH OPTIONAL 40K CLAIM N1X
#1 FOG ALERT- Art Sherman runner making his second start off a layoff. 3 year old was actually on the derby trail in the spring. Sherman horses usually seem well spoted and I expect him to be coming late with the possible duel between the 3 & 4.
#5 OILISBLACKGOLD(2nd)- Dollase gelding is coming off a brief 2 month freshening after breaking his maiden convincingly at Fairplex. Back on the poly tonight, but shows a solid and steady work tab leading into the race. Also Dollase is winning at a %30 clip after the layoff.
#3 TWEEBSTER(1st)-Baffert runner has hit the board in 7/8 career starts (1 win). He does seem like he has the ability to rate some if he decides not to go to the lead and is making his second start off a layoff after winning in his return on the lawn.

RACE 4 1 MILE ALW N1X turf
#3 UNICO LIDER-5 Year old is making career start number 4 and his first in the US. Front runner could be the lone speed in this race. He won his last two races in Argentina and draws towards the inside in this race that lacks a lot of pace.
#6 ROYAL FJ-Hard knocking 3 yeard old is back against alwance company after running in graded stakes in his last two. Expecting this versitile colt to be a little closer to the lead today. He's only 1/13 lifetime but has hit the board in 11 of his career starts (including all 8 of his turf starts).
#7 CONCERTO'S THUNDER-Puype runner is making his 2nd start of a brief layoff. Just missed in his return where he tried to catch the leader who got away with some soft fractions. Any progress should put him in contention at the end at what could be a square price.

.50 early four
1,5
2,4,7
1,3,5
3,6,7
$27

Good Luck.

Will try to get into the late four in a bit.

RACE 5 5F MAIDEN CLAIMER 32K (2 year olds)
#2 CABO SAN LUCAS-Making his first start since May, where he was last eased. Did show some speed in his first baby race just missing at 2 panels. Drops in for a tag for the first time and shows solid works for his comeback. Draws toward the inside in this wide open affair.
#9 SWISS HERO(2nd)-Making his 8th attempt to graduate. Proabale favorite might be a single on a lot of tickets. He has lost his last two by less than 2 lenghts and picks up Espinoza in the irons.
#11 SPEED BIAS(1st)-Son of Oriantate is making his debut breaking from the outside. Shows a bullet work on the 6th and runs for a trainer who wins with 19% of his two year olds.

RACE 6 1 MILE CLAIMING 40K turf (3 year olds)
#4 KEEN BIDER-Adds the shades and takes a slight drop for this gelding who just missed at the 50k level. He does seem to be a bit of a hanger (2 wins from 18 starts with 2 seconds and 3 thrids).
#6 LYONS BARTON-Making his second start in the Mullhall barn. Shades come off him after he failed at even money while running for 50k.
#3 OTTO VON VOOM-Very similar to the 6. Dropping a level and making his 2nd start off a layoff. Another stalker type who should be making his move in the lane.

RACE 7 6 1/2 F CLAIMING 16K (3 year olds)
#4 VIA VERDE-Seems like a captian obvious horse. Going out for the very hot John Sadler and making his second start after a 4 month layoff. Ran 3rd in his comeback race (conditional 25k claimer) while the 2nd place finisher came back to win next out. Steady pattern of solid works lead into this race where he picks up Rosario as his pilot.
#6 PLANTSITE-Stalker type tries the 16k level again after losing his jock in his last race. Bejerano gets the mount for the ice cold Jeff Mullins.

RACE 8 6F MD.SP.WT (F) turf
#5 CANDACE GOLD-Looks like she's one of the speeds in the race. Cutting back to 6 panels after finsihing up the track in her last race at a mile. Looking for her to go gate to wire.
#6 BACKSTREET DANCER-She's making her second start for Sadler who's winning at a %22 clip with 2nd time starters. She too looks like she will be on the engine early. Wasn't disgraced in her debut when she lost a late lead as the favorite.
#7 STORMY SLEW-Making her first start after a 6 month layoff. She has ran well off a layoff before and could be coming late if the race comes apart.
#2 NEFARIOUS-Mullins horse making her 3rd career start. Ran well as the favorite in her return from a 10 month layoff in her last when breaking from the rail. Back on the weeds and expecting Flores to stalk the pace with this daughter of Maria's Mon.

.50 Late 4
2,9,11
3,4,6
4,6
2,5,6,7
$36

Good Luck.

2nd leg is sneaky.... 4-5 on Dave's Ruler is ridiculous imo. The horse won't pass the leader even under prefect conditions (READ: Match race at Fairplex with Cat Brando who since was soundly thumped in a 12.5 N2L, and in today's 16clm 7th with no shot at 12-1).
Taking short money on the Baffert is equally baffling...

That said, gonna include both, but will spread a little here as it will not surprise me at all to see a price horse steal it.

The 5 probably looks like 2 turns fits, and the 2 perked up nicely under the added ground last.

This sequence might be worth chasing with a bigger ticket if we can get one of those prices and a very logical price in the 3rd

3,5//2,4,5,7,8//ALL//5,6

50.00 33.75

Updated 2nd leg

great when he says...the joel rosario daily double pays, the joel rosario pick 3 pays.

i listened to an interview of vic and he seems to be very humble and has terrible eye sight, i believe

I liked him when he first started at Churchill, but I think he's awful now. No need to pretend there is drama when there isn't.
