What a strange article.

I don't give a damn about breaking the streak -- the streak is not what's important to me, and it's not why I "come back every year." Whether CC wins or loses, I'll be watching every year that TC races are run.

So much analysis and reflection, yet so little said. There is a lot of that going around lately.

One of the comments below the article

"How does this guy even have a job writing? ....send him back to the kiddie table & give him a pacifier...."

means little to me. if you are a fan of C.C. it would be better if he loses......if he wins, he wont race again.

Because tc winners were all impeccable at stud, because his pedigree is above reproach, and breeders are hot for young sires right now.

again, not so. premiums are based on his value-and there's not much expectation winning the tc will change that.

he isn't the type that commercial breeders are looking for. witness i'll have another, who had to go to japan because breeders simply weren't willing to shell out the money for him here.

the breeding market is down right now, with horses standing for a fraction of what many stood for just a few years ago. breeders in times like these turn to tried and true horses that have been at stud and are proven commodities.

most tc winners, most horses, fail at stud. the odds are around ten to one that a horse does well...and horses with much better pedigrees than this one fail.
it's a much better chance this guy ends up like the bid at stud, than like slew.
i doubt, tho, he ends up as a cavalry remount like sir barton.

The owners have already publicly stated that win or lose, they are planning on running him as a four year old next year.

yep, and have bought insurance...so evidently the premiums weren't too steep to afford.
