Default Commentator ?

Anyone know where he is going ? Thought he was running in the Carter, obviously he did not. Where is the monster pointing ?

Met Mile, where he'll run up the track if he doesn't get the lead as usual.

That's the last I heard. And I don't know what you mean by "different horse". To me, he's still the same very fast one-dimensional runner he's always been.

Excited for the return of a seven-year old sprinter that quits every time he doesn't get the lead?

i love the difference of opinion, you say that
i say easily the best horse in the world, not named curlin, and i still think he could speed pop curlin up to 1 1/8

If he gets it he's awful hard to catch! The handicap division looks a little weak. He could steal the Whitney!

he could steal a lot more then that... the met does not make much sense to me, there could be a lot of early speed. why not races like the pimlico special, stephen foster, where he could be lone speed, or if not lone, at least the speed of the speed

Oh, there's no doubt that he does some awesome things when he gets to the front. He's very fast and could indeed steal the Whitney, I just have a dislike for horses like him who rack up giant figures when loose and then spit the bit when they don't get their way.

I can think of several horses who are better than he is that aren't named Curlin; Tiago and Heatseeker come to mind. I'd take Electrify over him. I'm sure there's another 5 or so if I stopped to think about it. Commentator is a one dimensional sort who thrills those who only see speed figures and don't understand how the trip affects the figure.

your very funny tonight, tiago and heatseeker are nice horses, but unless they have a rabit, they never get to commentator.

Has Commentator beat anyone of note since the summer of 2005? I think we all know the answer to that.

I love them... makes my job handicapping much easier and profitable!

See: last year's Tom Fool, or 2006 Forego.

Or is it only in races where you choose a paceless field?

If your only goal is to say that Commentator could bottom out a Grade I field going long then I think you're right. However, until he does it again, everyone should be skeptical. Predicting Commentator to win a race like the Whitney is as bold as predicting that Chatain will win the Forego.

In a match race, Curlin would beat Commentator at virtually any distance. Adding others to the field won't change anything.

grasshopper would press commentator the whole way and he would just fold like he always does. curlin would lay 3rd early on and pick up the victory. commentator is 7 years old and maybe he could beat that field when he was younger, but it's doubtful he could beat that many consistent runners in one field now.

I like Commentator too.. but that's a pipe dream. He needs to stay at 8 furlongs or less to have a chance these days.
