Default ROI Results 7/3 @ Delaware Park

No big bang fireworks on our pre 4th of July contest but 6 winning wagers were recorded but only
two players could hit the profit margin. Indian Hemp hit a pick 4, Cal had a trifecta and a super
and Cruzan hit a win bet but all three missed the break even point. Don Guido gets second place
with his $24 exacta in race 8 featuring Crazy Beautiful for a $100.80 return. Real Quiet however
gets the win at Delaware with a $17 exacta in race 6 which returned $170. Following are the
unofficial results pending any errors. There were a few scratches so if I missed anything let me
know. I'm not sure if Indian Hemp gets an additional Pick 4. I treated it as a scratch and don't
know if that's correct. I'll correct anything if it's incorrect. See you all next week wherever we wind
up.

WIN... Real Quiet... +$70.00... R 6 $20 ex key 10 w 3-4 $8.50 X 20... $170.00

RQ, you have raised a very good question because one can't tell from the Equibase chart how the late scratch of #1 in race 7 should be treated. The rule in a vast majority of racing jurisdictions is that if there is a late scratch in a pick 4 [or 5 or 6] you get a refund if the scratch is in the first leg of the sequence and are moved to the post time favorite if it is in any other leg. I can't swear that Delaware follows the majority rule and am not sure how to find this out.

In this case, #2 Yes this Time was the PTF in race 7 and also was the winner. Fortunately, whichever way you handle it won't make a big difference. If you award a refund, the value will be $18 [6 x 6 x $0.50]. If you award a second pick 4 hit by virtue of the scratch into a PTF, the value will be $17.10. Since you awarded IH the largest benefit I think the way you treated this question was fair.

Have we thanked you lately for the conscientious way in which you score the ROI?

This is according to TVG.

Pick 4, Pick 5, Pick 6, Place Pick All, and Grand Slam:
The post time favorite is substituted for the scratched runner.

I guess this makes it a little clearer to me. However if it was a Pick 3 I would be more confused than ever. And please Joly, disregard the mention of a Place Pick All.

TVG does have the 1 horse listed in the pick four so Indian Hemps bet will be adjusted to an extra payout.
