Default Toga 8th

Thats a dq IMO. He came out many paths and made contact. I don’t care if horse was much the best. He fouled. Of course the stewards will leave brown chalk up.

Even John felt it was.
During the call he announced impeded.
And then the ultimate “ qualifier “…..crosses the finish line first ….
Not winner by a length

I have no idea what is and is not a foul at this point. Name the jurisdiction…I have no idea what will be DQ’d and what will not.

Ya it baffling to say the least. I’m not buying into the 2 was going to finish 4th in this one. I don’t care. That horse came over many paths today and made contact. It’s a bad look.

Was watching the race on my phone at work and didn't get a clear picture of the foul. Have watched the replay now and can't think of a legitimate reason how wasn't a DQ.
So the new rule is if you are being locked in by a non-contender you can can knock him sideways and it doesn't matter because he never was going to finish in the money anyways

Appears that the NY stewards are acting like the airline industry....no reason to make any procedural changes or design changes until tombstones start to pop up.

So herding will continue to be allowed, and encouraged through non-calls and no disqualifications until a jockey dies as a result of herding.

It's that simple. Period.

Race 8 - Stewards’ inquiry into the stretch run. Approaching the 1/8th pole, #5 Winter Pool (Ricardo Santana Jr.) comes out several paths under a vigorous hand ride, causing the #2 Tiz Rye Time (Javier Castellano) to steady. After reviewing the video and speaking to the riders involved, it was the opinion of the stewards that the incident did not affect the outcome of the race. The race was made official 5-6-7-2

Stewards Decision summary from NYRA site. My take is they describe the interference like it happened but made their decision based on speaking to the jockeys....what a joke

I think what makes it difficult to understand is they DQ’d the winner of the 6th, when IMO that didn’t impact the finish either.
