Does anyone else find this ridiculous? * If the track isn't safe, then no horse should be working on it.* To not know if it's safe for your new star 3 year old, and to find out by pulling your (granted not as good as he used to be, but still a Derby winner) Derby and Preakness winner, oh yeah, and *the horse who put you on the map* out to work, is despicable.* The article says Robin Smullen pronounced the track safe but harder than she'd like, so what happens if Funny Cide ends up with soreness because of this?* Who cares, but if NoBiz Like Shobiz does, look out! The owners of Funny Cide need to retire him, or at the least, give him to someone who will take proper care of him and spot him well, or, at the very least, not risk his health and safety. |

I think it's absoutely a non-issue. If NoBiz doesn't get the work in, all of a sudden he is forced to take a different path to the Derby. Can't say I blame a trainer for sticking to plan 'A'. ...and Barclay Tagg was on the map long before Funny Cide. Are you saying that a trainer is only 'on the map' if he wins a Derby? Now THAT is ridiculous. |

![]() I think it just came off sounding the wrong way. I'm sure FC is well taken care of.
As for me, I have the worst cough/sorethroat/ear-ache of my life. Yet, I brave it all and fight through it, just to share my brilliance with you guys on the board. Not only am I dashingly good looking, but I'm certainly proving myself to be the Willis Reed of this board. With snot running down my nose, a painful dry cough, and a voice that sounds like one of those lung cancer guys who talk through a contraption, here I am heroically posting through pain. What an inspiration I am! |

![]() On the one hand, one might think it would make more sense to make a $10,000 claimer the guinea pig.
But what makes a $10,000 claimer's health any less important? (if Tagg has any of them). He had to put someone out there to start the morning out. Anyways.....what exactly is so good about retirement for a gelding? He stands in a grassy area next to the fence and picks flies for the rest of his life? I know animals aren't smart but....it can't be exciting. He can hold off on that for one more year at least. ![]() |
