![]() Nobody seriously hurt, two out of three horses walk off on their own. For as horrific as that looked it seems very lucky that nearly all of those involved, human or equine, walked away relatively unscathed.

![]() I'm glad the Poly track is preventing these break downs. Glad everyone else is OK.

![]() It was one of those you see and just hope for the best. It was over before it happened.
Speaking of mishaps... Did anyone see the driver at Meadowlands that lost his outside rein? The rein broke or something and the only thing he had to hold on to was the left rein. Well, tugging on that brought the horse over into the horse on his left. He did a great job, however, because he never caused an accident and was able to signal to everyone behind him to go around on the outside. Meanwhile, you could tell the guy was absolutely freaking out because he was positioning himself to bail. He eventually used the horse's tail to hold on until the outrider could grab the horse and bring it to a stop. That horse was NOT going to stop otherwise!! First time I had ever seen that. But, I don't watch much harness... |

Its cushion track at Hollywood, not poly track. and it is more forgiving to run on, and most likely does prevent some breakdowns. many trainers that run on it have given that opinion. Honu posts on here and rides horses on it all the time can give a first hand account about how it is kinder to horses. does it eliminate all possibilty of a horse injuring itself while running? of course not but isn't that a ridiculous assumption in the first place. |
