Pimlico, 5-19 Full Card
The day-long party they call "Preakness" I had an extra day to study the TG's, we'll see if it helps.
Race 1: two very interesting horses in here, ML favorite #11 Bond Fire; very fast but lightly raced, most recent was a TG 2, if he can pair or improve on that he doesn't lose.. #8 PV Lightening, gets in light for 2nd lifetime start, debut was a 5.75 while breaking badly, a forward move coupled with the weight allowance would make him very dangerous.. #4 Gallop Pole and #7 Phantastic Peace can both hit the board at square prices, as could either of the Small entry. Race 2: The rail horse, #1 Love's Strong Hart, comes in a bit slower than some, but very consistent..#9 Munson Roy E, has an explosive line, but would need to jump up today to win (at 5-2 ML, definite underlay)..two big question marks: #8 Tyros Beach, fig 2 back is extremely competitive here, then he "bounced" on the turf.. and #10 Travelin Leroy, last was a 5 pt lifetime top, now comes back on three weeks rest, does he react? Race 3: #1 Reaffirmed, is coming off a turf bounce on short rest, now has 6 weeks for this.. #11 Runaway Chris, a little slower coming in, but an explosive pattern and a nice ML 20-1.. #10 Grey Dorian, outside post hurts, but consistent..#9 Orlop is a question mark, coming off a major sprint "bounce", does have better to run back to..#5 Easy Grades can't be discounted, although has a slightly negative pattern. Race 4: #6 Roth Ticket, comes in just as fast as the 2 favorites, but with an 8-1 ML.. #8 Known Back Home, has run 4 consecutive TG zeros (a little LAKE Magic?) and #7 Suave Jazz has run 2 consecutive TG zeros, could either be vulnerable? #10 Ten Across comes in off paired TG 1.5's, great spacing.. #11 Vikrant, a bit slower coming in, but a good pattern and a good ML price (15-1). Race 5: #4 Heros Reward, 5 yr old coming off lifetime top 1.75, square price and dangerous if he doesn't bounce..#2 Salute the Count, also comes in off a great race, 1st off layoff at AC, could react today..#7 Max West, extremely fast last year at age 6, making 2nd start as a 7 year old, very dangerous off back figs..#9 Midwatch, a bit slower coming in, got his tightener at a mile 3 weeks ago, can improve today. Race 6: #6 Hobbitontherocks, 3 back ran a TG 1.25 (fastest of all in here), then came back with pair 4's, comes in with a month's rest, strong in here..#4 Finallymadeit, has moved forward in each of his last 3 (since adding lasix), was his last (TG 2) the end of the line?.. #5 Street Magician, shortens up, but comes in no better than many others, and as ML favorite is an underlay... two poly track horses, #8 Like Mom Like Sons, and #7 Stormin Baghdad, both dangerous, but no dirt figs. Race 7: you always want to try to beat the favorite, but #5 Precious Kitten is the fastest.. if #1 A True Pussycat can transfer her dirt form to the grass, could be dangerous at a price..#3 Aunt Henny has a nice, forward moving line, and 7 weeks rest..#4 Grigorieva, major trouble at the start in his first US race 6 weeks ago, certainly can improve.. Race 8: Fastest horse coming in is #7 Talent Search, coming off TG neg 1 and neg 3 in last 2, may "bounce", but if he doesn't...ML favorite #2 Diabolical, both fast and consistent..local favorite #6 Fleet Valid, hasn't run the BIG fig YET, today could be the day. Race 9: #1 Vow To Greatness, a bit slower than the rest coming in, but great spacing, forward moving and ML 10-1.. #6 Chelokee, ML and sentimental favorite, fast enough but hoof issues?.. Pletcher's #4 Soaring By, obviously dangerous, will the Pletcher "Magic" be working today? #7 Zephyr Cat, slower than most but a nice pattern, could jump up today. Race 10: one word: #9 EINSTEIN!! have to give him another chance after KD day flop...#3 Cosmonaut, 2nd off the layoff, 2nd fastest horse coming in...#12 Remarkable News, very fast, outside post may compromise.. the rest of the field should finish within noses of each other on the wire Race 11: Is Hesanoldsalt the single of the day? I don't think so, based on his pattern, although he certainly may win...#1 Ryan's For Real has 2 huge figs (at shorter distances) out of his last 3, the clunker was last time on poly, definitely dangerous...#3 Take The Bluff, very fast, layoff is a bit strange..#9 Flashy Bull, broke thru to a negative # in his last (3rd start as a 4 year old), could continue forward here (or bounce to the moon?) Race 12: Otherwise known at the Preakness, #8 Street Sense, paired his 2 year old top of Neg 2 in the Derby, just can't see him losing this..taking a stand against Hard Spun, due to pattern and Flying First Class (speed), so will use both Pletcher horses, #3 Circular Quay, and # 5 KingoftheRoxy underneath..hitting the all button (or most) for 4th in the super. Race 13: YES, I do plan on still being around (and more importantly, having money to play with), #9 Bold Julio's recent pattern is 4 (top), 13, 8, and back to 4 in his last. While he did react to the original 4, got back to it pretty quickly, which is a healthy sign, 8-1 ML is square...#11 Creve Coeur has a similar pattern with the same top fig (4), nice spacing and a new trainer (Hooper), outside post and high weight (122) may compromise...#1 Fire Hero and #3 Topping are both fast but iffy..#6 Skip the Crowd, a bit slower coming in, but a forward moving 4 year old with a strong pattern. I must admit I was listening to Andy's Youbet show while creating this, so that's my excuse if things don't go well As always, Best of Luck to everyone!!!
