Default Miracles do happen

Quite a number of you know about our tribulations with our son regarding eating.Well this week our son has had a few breakthroughs. He has eaten fruit,Veal,Broccoli and Carrots and let me brace you for this one by telling you to sit down and grab tight. We go for Sushi once a week and he never tries anything.Today he ate EEL .All the restaurant employees came over to the table to witness this feat. It's equivalent to Moses parting the red sea.Heck i didn't even eat Sushi until i was in my 30's.He's really trying and that's all my wife and i ever asked.

Hey Mermaid...that's great news! picky eaters are hard to deal with, and the younger they are the more stress develops! Peaceful meals?...what a concept!

How old is he? My son is four and he eats nothing but chicken nuggets, eggo waffles and pizza. Once in a while he will eat wonton soup. But he is a giant pain in the ass. He won't even try stuff and it is very fustrating. We laid down the law tonight, and we were going to make him sit at the table until he ate the ziti my wife made. After an hour he said he would eat a scrambled egg if my wife made it. Sure enough he did. Good Luck with your boy, may he start to eat everything.

Math he's 8 years old and the irony is that when he was 3 he would eat herring with onions in wine sauce and other things. He then turned and wouldn't eat anything but Pizza, chicken nuggets and his lunch in school would be a dry everything bagel. He now eats onion omelletes,Ravioli and has broadened his food groups but it's been frustrating as many on this board can attest to.We've also been spoiled because our daughter eats everything. She sees something new on your plate she has to try it.She's been eating Sushi since she's 18 months old and she's 5 now.The Sushi chef always makes something special for her because he has gotten such a kick out of watching her. She's the only one in the house that likes anchovies. As they say no 2 kids are alike.

Jesus, no wonder he won't eat anything.... herring with onions ....I would need culinary therapy after that.....

not trying to make light of it....my two sons mom and I divorced when they were 7 and 5 and she is the queen of take out and I love to cook.....now they are 17 and 15 and it can still be a struggle with the 15 year old....and I'm talking basic stuff......green beans, corn, etc.....maybe I should try some herring and onions tomorrow..

Samarta it was his own doing.I was eating them one day about 6 years ago and he asked to try them.I told him he might not like it but to my amazement he asked for more and loved to eat it if i cut them up and put toothpicks in them.

I love EEL. They make a great BBQ EEL roll at the local Fresh Market. Good stuff.

I have the same problem with my soon to be 4 year old... I swear the kid doesn't want to eat anything. UGH. When he was a younger baby, he would actually throw up stuff to avoid having to eat it. At least we've gotten past that!

P.S.

I just read the other posts on here and boy am I glad I'm not alone... Daniel will eat pizza, pasta, green beans, mac and cheese and oatmeal. That about sums up his eating... it's beyond frustrating! LOL

Jamie the kids doctors who are in my eyes the greatest told us not to worry.Kids will never starve and will eat when they're hungry. He'll come around and you're really stressing for nothing. This is the same doctor who when we called up and told him our son had a temperature of 103 what should we do he replied send him out to play. With kids that age 103 is nothing but a number unless it has been going on for days. These are also the doctors who refused to put tubes in his ears because he was getting so many ear infections and decided to put him on 5 days of steroids yes steroids. He never had an ear infection again.

you took a fussy child to a sushi bar?

that has prevented a few future births by the other couples on early dates.

thanks for doing your part on the overpopulation problem.

I hate sushi... there's just something about raw fish that doesn't appeal to me.

Then what is it?

The last time I checked it was typically rice (with raw fish) wrapped in seaweed. If it's got raw fish or raw seafood of any kind in it, I'll pass. Thanks.

They great majority of it is cooked. Some of it is raw, but not all of it. Sushi is the name given to the way it is wrapped with rice and seaweed. Even California Rolls (vegetables) are called sushi.

Surprises me...I put you on the kinda person that would like sushi. I could eat it every day. They make a great spicy combo roll at the place I get it from. 4 pieces each of spicy shrimp, spicy salmon and spicy tuna. Only the tuna is raw, the other two are cooked.
