Default Some Sicko Killed 10,000 Dogs

I just read that some sicko in England killed 10,000 dogs over the past 15 years. The link to the article is on drudgereport.com. Apparently, all the dogs were greyhounds. All the greyhound trainers knew this guy, and he was the guy they would give the dogs to if the dogs couldn't make any money racing. This guy would kill them and then bury them in his yard. I guess he had a one acre yard where he would bury them. The owners and trainers knew that he would kill the dogs. He would do it cheaper than anyone else. I think he would kill them for about $15 a piece.
We live in a sick world. greyhounds are really sweet and gentle dogs. If people are going to race them, the least they could do is take care of them after they retire them. If they can't afford to take care of them after they retire, then they shouldn't be in the sport.

One thing that is amazing about the story is that the guy may not even get in trouble.

greyhounds make wonderful pets and companions--but just like a horse coming off the track they need significant retraining which most poeple are unable/incapable of doing

Actually, they require little retraining! Our first rescue came right off the track in Florida, he was housebroken (as are they all) and very mild-mannered. We tested him with cats...no problem! Other dogs...no problem! He was a big baby and, especially for a large breed, extremely nimble and coordinated. We lived in a small apartment at the time and he adjusted instantly...slept on the couch or on the guest bed. They don't bark and have no destructive habits. The ideal pet!! Only things to do special:
1. must be leash walked unless you have fenced yard
2. introduce him to glass sliding doors slowly, they can run right through them if not.
3. test them with small animals as many are still trained to kill rabbits and kittens.
4. get their teeth checked...they have bad teeth because of the diet of raw meat they are fed at the track.
Greyhounds make wonderful pets...the extreme abuse of the racing industry is why I will not support racing them, unlike horses, they are cheap to breed and cost little to maintain so...if there is any problem, they often get a hammer to the head or a bullet. It's a cruel sport and I stand with my PETA brothern here...IT SHOULD BE OUTLAWED!!! It's no better than dog fighting or **** fights!!
