Worked 4 furlongs in :46 at Palm Meadows (wow) and seems to have the stamina...

As for whether or not he's a legit contender, I have no clue. Haven't seen enough of this colt to have an unbiased opinion.

Bill Finley wrote an article about him a few weeks ago: (http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/hor...ill&id=3230176) Apparently their primary objective at this point is the Belmont Stakes.
I started a thread about the horse in the "International Racing" room awhile ago, but nobody seemed to know much about him.

Heard talk of this horse on "ATR" on Tuesday. Steven Allday I believe it was. Said it was rumored to have a tendon issue and that the :46 workout was for a sale..... Other than that he said he liked the horse, but not much of a chance on making it/winning the Derby.

If nothing else, he's interesting. How many 2yo's do you know that have beaten 3yo's going any distance, let alone a mile and a half?!?!?

Default The Bid = dumb, dumb, dumb...

First of all let's point to his little jpeg of the Hipodromo de Maroņas, a racetrack/casino that reopened a few years ago. Uruguay is not even considered among the elite of horse venues in South America. Peru's horse racing compared to Uruguay is like comparing the Yankees to a college ball club.
I quote El Bid: "Tomcito was defeated by an unraced maiden named Codigo De Honor."
Codigo De Honor was sold to Saudi Arabia for over a million dollars.

I quote El Bid: "The national horses would be lucky to win at Beulah"
Did you know that Dominguin (Peru) beat INVASOR in Dubai?
Yes, The Bid is a ******.

I quote El Bid: "Hed be lucky to be an allowance horse".
Mmmmm...Tomcito came in 3rd in the Florida Derby after a 5 month layoff. Can a forum member be this dumb?

I quote El Bid: "Anybody who likes this horse is in for a very rude awakening when he runs".
This guy is just taking advantage of his right of "Freedom of speech". Thank God we are awake now.

Peru has one of the most beautiful racetracks in the world bar none. To win a Grade I in Peru is extremely hard. Next time, please don't pay attention to a narrow minded guy like The Bid.

If anyone has questions about Tomcito, I will be more than happy to answer.

I still like the horse and look forward to seeing him run back.. I don't think he disgraced himself by his coming at the end 3rd. I think he still has a chance in the Belmont perhaps.

I have one: where were you BEFORE the race?

P.S. Last moving a field that's been run off its feet chasing, gaining into the 2nd slowest quarter/eighth of the race, and STILL BACKING up the last split (the slowest 1/8th of the race) is not exactly an impressive performance.

Where was I before the race? What does that have to do with anything?

In my opinion you need more than just a stop watch to analyze a race. Any professional horseman will tell u that. If u compare the times in Peru with the times at Gulfstream Park, is the same as comparing running on a sandy beach to running on concrete.

Before going deeper into analyzing the Florida Derby 2008 let me tell u about other bad breaks Tomcito endured. Jorge Chavez was told to work 3 1/2 furlongs days before the race and instead worked the horse 7 furlongs. Edgar Prado (Peruvian) who was supposed to have ridden Tomcito left for Dubai where he won both races and a total purse of $3 million.

Going back to the Florida Derby, pay close attention at Jorge Chavez actions from the start of the race. First instead of following the pace and slowly looking for the rail, pulls back the horse colliding with the 3 horse and runs into another horse who still does not allow him to get to the rail. Tomcito lost valuable ground to the rest of the pack. If I would have been the trainer, my first question to Chavez would be: "What the heck where u thinking off"? "Why did we work so hard to get speed on this horse if u is going to hold him back"?

Next step, I would get myself another jockey immediately.

Tomcito came from Peru after having raced in a 1 1/2 Miles race in a very deep track; this is just his first race in a Grade I in the United States. Don't forget that Tomcito style of racing is as a closer not a front runner like Big Brown.

It has something to do with what we term a REDBOARD here. I don't know how they do things in South America, Jose, but, HERE, we actually value opinions BEFORE the horse runs.

My opinions of the Florida Derby where posted on you tube 6 days before the race Pancho. I already got some people that at least had the courtesy to appreciate good info. You could have made yourself some cash.
So you know, I am not a Tomcito fan. I love to learn everything I can so that I can make some smart money decisions at the track. How much is Big Brown going to pay to win in Kentucky? $5.90? How much would a horse like Tomcito pay? $39.00?

If you know your racing, check how many favorites have won the Kentucky Derby and let me know how much money you would have lost.

In closing: I am not Spanish at all, I chose Caesar for Caesars Palace my favorite place to stay while in Vegas.

Sure. He said the horse would be lucky to be an allowance horse, which ended up being pretty accurate. He got an 85 Beyer, which is below par for allowance races at Gulfstream, despite getting the only trip that would allow him to hit the board. Nice story? Sure. A world beater? No way. I think he hit his ability about right on the head.

You seriously think the Sheikhs buying another one at a ridiculously inflated level is a good argument for the quality of a horse?!?

I am listening to Slade Alive and I have to answer a question about Beyers?
He ran a Grade I and you talk Beyers? Sorry, enough, I am going back to Slade Alive.

Ceaser

I dont usually do this but Im going to correct you.

The horse you speak of, Codigo De Honor, was sold. He was sold for 50k. Which is about 30k too much. He has subsequently ran, and drilled once again, big surprise. The horse that beat him is named Lake Periyar, Lake Periyar debuted at Deauville, and got beat 6. Came back at a minor French track and was beat 7. Came back yet again, this time in Saudi Arabia, and was promptly beaten 20. He then beat the horse you believe was sold for a million dollars, Coldigo De Honor.

The National horses in Peru cannot win at Beulah, they are horrible horses. My Jpeg picture is of a champion, I could careless where the picture is taken.

Ceaser. Dominguin was balls to the wall to win an allowance at Suffolk downs. He ran in America 6 times, winning once, breaking an 80 beyer once. For the record he was off the board in all subsequent starts, which ranged from 80 optional at CHD, drilled 10 1/4, to the Moseley handicap at Suffolk where he was beaten 10 posting a monstrous 79.

I would suggest you confront whomever is filling your head with this lunacy from A) Tomcito being a good horse. B) Peruvian horses being good horses C) Dominguin and Invasor being mentioned in the same breath D)Coldigo De Honor, a maiden, being sold for a million

I look forward to what you have to say.

Oh one last thing...Dominguin never beat Invasor

Regards

While I am listening to Guns & Roses, El Bid starts wasting my time with false information.
Yeah right, they paid $50k for Codigo de Honor. The smell from your message affected your brain.

Make sure all you write next time is a thank you note.

U. A. E. Derby 1 1/8 mile

1, Discreet Cat
bin Suroor/Dettori

2, Testimony
bin Suroor/Gomez

3, Flamme de Passion (JPN)

4, Dominguin (PER)

5, Gaburin (AUS)

6, Gold for Sale (ARG)

7, Invasor (ARG),

8, Jackson (BRZ),

9, My Royal Captain (NZ)

10, Simpatico Bribon (CHI)

11, Unification

13, Where's That Tiger (less)

Codigo De Honor came in second in his debut and only race so far in Dubai.

Ok, enough of Julio Pancho Rodriguez alias El Bid. El Bid needs to get back to cutting my lawn and making sure that my hedges are cut at precisely 6'4".

Folks please.... get back to work, false alarm, there is nothing El Bid has written that's worth wasting any time.

PS. Uruguay has not produced a single good horse, maybe some fine horse manure but that's about it.
