Default gertmenian part two??

contract talks w/ manley have stalled... gee, i wonder why?!

this from t'bred times:

If hired as national manager, Manley has agreed to loan the Guild $500,000 to help pay debts, in exchange for a percentage of Guild revenue. When the Guild decided on June 26 to hire Manley, Velazquez understood that revenue percentage to be 5%, apparently for the length of the contract.

Manley since has increased his asking price to 20% over a ten-year term, although his actual contract would not necessarily extend a decade. Manley confirmed those demands on Friday.

20%?! why would the guild manager deserve 1/5th?? that is outrageous. almost as outrageous as his hiring to begin with. an agent and rare coin collector. how does that qualify him for this post?

Will somebody please tell me that the jocks can still back out of this. I fear what this can do to the whole industry. If you don't see the potential repercussions this deal could have on everyone involved in horse racing then you need to look at the whole picture.

Dave Stevenson, who is very well respected in the industry was and I'm sure still would be there for them... he proposed a much better deal! He was helping them non gratis for many many months... then this guy walks in with his mouth peice Jessy and has them dancing like Gertmainian did!!!

I don't know the specifics but I would guess that there will be a mass exodus of riders out of the guild. I don't know the legalities of this however.

Sounds like yet another bad case of " I told you so ".

the crappy part about this is NO ONE wants to say "I told ya so"! Jocks have a major chip on their shoulder! get over it... the Philly jocks are making progress in their mission... who needs the guild! Tony Black and Bobby Colton are proving just that.. both were officers in the guild and left because of the fiasco.. poor Eddie Accaro must be rolling in his grave!
