There is a lot of that going around this year..Cubs and Sox both in first because of their home records

Scuds does. It was his final Steve Garvey moment.

I think its quite a stretch to say that the team is not very good. They are right there.

Beckett has had some pretty tough luck outings. Papi on the shelf doesnt hurt.

If they can hang in there until after the break (and i think they will), they can pick up some help from a fire sale and get papi back and they will be fine.

Obviously, big Papi is a big part. But the other thing that I have noticed is that Varitek is batting aroung .220. As a Yankees fan I have seen that guy get a ton of clutch hits against the Yanks and the rest of the leauge. I believe that him struggling is a big factor too.

5 out of 30 teams in MLB have an abovr .500 record on the road:

Yanks (who gives a sh*t when you can hardly win at home)
Angels (better record on the road than at home)
A's (1 game over .500)
Phils (we could get 9 guys from this board and play above .500 on the road in the NL East)
Cards (close to same boat as the Angels)

if their bullpen continues to pitch the way they have THIS YEAR they won't be going anywhere

I don't think so Marty...Umps can be wildly and unfairly inconsistent during a game, but I really don't think they are "homers"..say...like NBA refs

Religion is for people that are afraid of going to hell. Spirituality is for people that have already been there.SoulSearching is for our elected officials who have to find it before they can determine which of the 2 aforementioned groups they belong.
