![]() ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- Alaska lawmakers have begun reviewing a
lengthy and politically sensitive report that could prove embarrassing to Sarah Palin when it's released later today. The report focuses on whether the first-term Alaska governor abused her authority by firing a state official. Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan says Palin and her husband pressured him to fire Mike Wooten, a state trooper involved in a nasty divorce and custody dispute with the governor's sister. When Monegan resisted, he says, he was fired. The inquiry, approved by a legislative committee's bipartisan vote, began before John McCain named Palin his running mate. The McCain campaign has conducted its own review of the case and has found Palin free of any wrongdoing. No matter what is determined, the last line is hilarious to me. I mean, really? I'm shocked.
