![]() Really got into gambling again really bad I reverted back to my bad habits, and blew any available cash I had on horses, poker, blackjack, its to the point where my computer is being taken away, and my parents talked to my boss to monitor my computer activity which probably means I wont be posting for a very long while. For his part my dad has also removed the TVG from the cable and will no longer be taking me to the track or even talk about horse racing, or poker. I'm sure many of you already know the wacky turn ive had the past 2 years and in some cases 4. Id still like to talk to you on messenger, we dont have to talk about horses.

![]() Seattle, I know we've had a bit of small tifs in teh past, but I think you're a very good guy and I hope to keep talking to you. My AIM SN is davidsbigboy so if you ever just want to chat about life or even talk the ponies a little bit just strike up a convo. I'm generally on. If not, that's cool too. I wish you nothing but the best and I truly hope you can get past your gambling addiction. And another question, why do you have the backstreet boys and nsync in your aim screenname

![]() That's too bad.I have seen it 1st hand myself. My friend got kicked out of his parents' place(while being close to getting a Law Degree) after he took 5k-10k from his Dad's ATM card(seems like he had a real bad jonz for PAI GOW POKER but most anything would do.)He was a very high risk taker in general. That is a flaw of some sort that some people are born with(I believe.)Liked to come up with ways to get easy money, and never thought the cops would ever be smart enough to catch him. Most people think about the consequences of losing, and back off when they lose(and lose interest somewhat when they lose.)Some others don't think about the possibility of losing, and when they do lose they keep betting more and more. I would say that these folks don't have just a gambling problem. It is not limited to gambling. They are high risk takers in general.Feel sorry for ya Seattle. You probably will be forced to go to G.A. MEETINGS,and G.A. outings where you eat bad food at Olive Garden.

Now listen, over at GA they have a 12 step program. There is a daily double on the first two steps. Rolling pik-3's beginning on steps 1-10. A pik-4 on steps 9-12, and superfecta wagering on the last step. Good luck!!!!! |

![]() Jerry,
I pm'ed you my number. Let me know that you got it, if I don't hear from you I will forward it to someone so they can pass it on to you. I have shared in the past on the other forum some of the loewst points of my life, oddly enough a big part of that was gambling. I spoke with you on I believe Saturday and you said everything was cool? What happened? Nevermind, I know how that goes. Been down that road. It is for the best that someone loves you enough to step in and give you some tough love. Don't end up like me. At the height of my problem, within a month, my new Chevy truck was repo'ed, I had 48 hours to get all my belongings out of the apartment, my credit card was maxed from cash advances and I was only a step away from losing my job. I ended up losing that job within a week of being evicted, had all my personal belongings in a garage and was driving a car borrowed from a friends parents. My only friend at that time in my eyes was a bottle and an exacta at whatever track was up next. I lived in that car for well over a month. I would go to a day labor shop, work for $6 an hour, get paid the $30 or $40 and drink and gamble it away every day. Back up at 4:00am the next day doing the same thing. Lived in it. Showered in a bathroom sink the majority of the time. My mother thought I had committed suicide and filed a missing persons report. Didn't take long for someone to find me. Someone who loves me. Don't end up like me. I am better now, I have control over my gambling compared to how it used to be. Call me man, I have been in your shoes. I make a great listener. ![]() well Jerry, look on the bright side
at least you got over your terrible bout with cancer (inside joke, no need to get alarmed) just remember the addict will find a way so until YOU want to beat this yourself the addition will still remain I'll keep you in my prayers if you ever want to talk just ask Mr. Saratoga for my number (he does care, and so do I) |

![]() While we all find you very annoying, we wish you the best of luck and hope you put your life together. Take up golf. I am addicted to that and another guy here said you should try chess. He spends half the day on the computer playing chess.

If you can't handle your gambling, get the frick out of here. I do not want to be supporting or reading about any whiney asses that are upset because they lost. Or got caught losing more than they should. I follow thoroughbred racing for the nostalgia, the thrills, and with sincere respect to the wager. Respect to the wager. I come here for pleasure. This is not a dam*ed support group. (edit:.......actually, I do not mind people expressing 'pissedoffness' and lament over a loss........but I frickin' hate those that irresponsibly crash and burn casting a pall over a sport I love) Last edited by westcoastinvader : 08-09-2006 at 02:44 AM. |

![]() westcoastinvader, you don't get it
why do you think every track website has something for people with gambling addiction? like it or not, it is, a part of the sport an excellent book to read is "Horseplayers" by Ted McClelland this isn't a book glorifying the sport in any sense like 99% do here's a fact for you, 16 Billion is bet every year on T'breds alone only between 2% to 5% of players actually show a profit from "playing" for someone to get addicted to it, and lose tons of money is very easy one of the reasons why is they are always racing, 365 if you blow east coast, there's always west coast to try to break even there are many "Jerrys" out there, this is no isolated incident that's great if you can wager responsibly, but don't look down upon those who can't, it's the same as any other addiction |

![]() this is a call for help. lets just keep Jerry in our thoughts and hope he gets it together, all I will say. I have never met him in person, just know he has some demons in his closet he needs to get rid off and it sounds like the ones who love him have stepped in and are putting the clamp on it.
