Billy was a master at his craft. He will be missed. I bet he would have been a good racecaller.

This is from TMZ, so take it with a grain of salt, but they were right about Jacko.

Quote:
The FAA is already deflecting blame for the death of Billy Mays -- claiming the legendary TV pitchman wasn't wearing a seat belt when he took a shot to the head during a rough landing on a flight he was on yesterday.

Here's what we know -- Billy Mays was aboard US Airways Flight 1241 flying from Philadelphia, which landed roughly when the front tire blew out as it touched down. After the flight, Billy told FOX 13 in Tampa that something struck him in the head -- here's Billy's actual quote:

"All of a sudden as we hit you know it was just the hardest hit, all the things from the ceiling started dropping. It hit me on the head, but I got a hard head."

We called the FAA for comment, and a spokesperson told us, "The passenger needs to wear a seat belt during landing and he didn't."

A spokesperson for US Airways did not want to comment until more information comes to light.

Billy posted about it last on his Twitter last night, saying, "Just had a close call landing in Tampa. The tires blew out upon landing. Stuck in the plane on the runway. You can always count on US Air."

Default Billy Mays, RIP

He was uniquely American, liked by many, despised by others. I found him entertaining on that new "Pitchmen" show on Discovery Channel.

The episode on last week showed his little girl too. Breaks my heart.

Rest in peace, and condolences to his family.

I was very surprised to see that he died. He was only 50 years old. He had been getting alot of press lately. They did a story on him on CNBC just a couple of months ago.

Here is the story about his death:

You say that he was "despised by some". Who despised him? Why would anyone have despised him? I didn't know too much about him but I had never heard anything bad about him. I thought he was extremely popular. That's why everyone wanted him to sell their products.

Sorry -- admittedly poor wording there. I know some people who detest infomercials in general, and since he was the most ubiquitous frontman for infomercials, they didn't like his work. Also most of the people I am referring to said he shouted at them on the screen -- just his style of course -- and they took offense to that, likening it to the used car commercials that are also shown locally in this area.

Personally, I liked the guy -- what I knew about him by watching Pitchmen. He seemed really cool, and according to news reports, he was a generous soul as well.

He was loud, and used the most trite rhyming scheme possible. I won't miss him, but it's sad when anyone this young dies.
