Basically, the article says that Borel has given a two race committment to some other people to ride their horse. The two races they plan on running the other horse (Warrior's Reward) are the Dwyer this weekend and the Jim Dandy.....on the same day as Mine that Bird is planned on running in the WV Derby. Woolley is saying he's going to ask for a firm committment in the next day or two. So my question is if you ride the Derby winner and think he's such a good little horse, why are you making multi-race committments to other horses that could be pointed to races on the same day or even to the same races? I think it either comes down to Borel didn't make the committment to the other trainer or if he did, he really doesn't think all that much of Mine that Bird. I wonder which it is? And even if you didn't make this committment, isn't there a chance that Rachel could run in the Travers? I don't understand why Woolley didn't committ to another rider going into the Preakness. Mine that Bird is obviously not going to be Borel's first choice in any potential conflicts.

![]() The article answered the question
Borel rides frequently for Wilkes, the longtime protege and business associate of trainer Carl Nafzger, for whom Borel won the 2007 Derby aboard Street Sense. Wilkes trains a large stable and therefore is the source of far more overall business for Borel than Woolley, whose stable is based in New Mexico. |

all of this would have been mute king if they had used the jockey from New Mexico at the derby , he would have stayed with the horse threw all 3 legs of the triple crown .....are we supposed to believe that the kid wouldn't have won on MTB in the derby , for gosh sake's he won by 7+ lengths. even if the kid got in trouble in the derby the horse would have still won in KY . does calvin borel equate to 7 or more lengths in a race anywhere at anytime ----i find that very hard to believe |

come on what does that mean? do you really believe these small jocks are 7 lengths worse than a jock at Belmont or CD, i mean come on , you know i'm right on this one if you believe waht chip said after the race , we wanted to let him make 1 big run , we were too close in the sunland , why couldn't the kid from New Mexico not take the horse back and rate , and even if he moved a little later than Borel , he would have won that day with Cajungator on him , as long as the jock didn't fall off that day MTB was a winner , he loved thar peanut butter surface they ran on , the others obviously didn't |

no way, no how gales... you couldnt pay me enough to convince me of this... The kid from New Mexico had BLOWN the last two rides b4 the derby, or maybe he would have had the mount. NO WAY does the kid make the rail move that ONLY boRAIL does.. no way does he bring back MTB like 10 lenghts behind the 19th place horse for the first 6 furlongs. I'll tell ya what would have happened... MTB would have got in a lot of trouble and finished 6th with making a promising run... if not last because of a premature run on the backside... MTB would have skipped the Preakness (Pioneer of the crappy running would have been the Derby winner).... MTB would have come back in the Belmont with a different jockey (and not borail).. and won at like 50-1 odds.

yeah , but , chip didn't blame the kid for either of the rides in sunland. he figured something out in-between the sunland and the derby ..... why couldn't the kid from New Mexico do exactly waht calvin did , why couldn't he take back on derby day if that's what the trainer wanted |
