Oh, in this case she truly has done enough. Thank you KNS for trying every single time. Will her papers include that she cannot race again? Is there any way we can keep track of her? If she needs a new home I am sure there are some on here that would like to help.
Susan told me that she is a very comfortable ride and will probably make a good trail horse. Too bad it is not one year later, I might be in a position to take her then. Last edited by SuffolkGirl : 08-02-2010 at 04:48 PM. Reason: more info |

I'd like to know the answer to that question, too.
I'm glad to know that everyone is concerned that she goes to a good post-track home. I wish I could take her. |

There are strict guidlines that adaptees HAVE to follow or they get the horse taken away. at the ILEHC, the adaptee has to submit a vet report of the horse every three months, pictures of the horse every other month and background checks of the person and immediate family. There is also an interview and they have to agree to a bunch of things before even approved. The people that usually run these adaption farms are very good people, and they are super aggressive in their tone and how they carry themselves. They take great pride in doing what they do and get little back. That being said, to a normal person, they come off a touch weird. |

The great thing about this program is that it essentially funds itsself. A losing horse at Philly get $150 if finish 6th on, jock mount fee is the same across the board of $100, and $10 is AUTOMATICALLY deducted to go to the retirement program. Every starter essentially donates $10 of money that they haven't even touched. It is all handled by the horseman's bookkeeper. It essentially means that about 4-5k every racing week is donated to the program, thats alot of feed and care for retired horses. As Chuck said, they have a waiting list a mile long of people that want to adapt A SOUND horse. The issue really comes when you are asking someone to adapt a cripple. I do not know anyone at the PA program, but I am guessing someone can talk to the PA people and find out where she is going and maybe a specific person can be an 'point' person on her, instead of having a bunch of people asking the same questions. |

She was such an honest horse and always tried hard. Watching her wins, she was so game. I am glad I got to see her run and was proud to have been a part of venture everytime she entered the gate.
I am sure this was a tough decision. Thanks, Chuck and Steve, for letting all of go along for the ride. Paul |

All the best to KNS in her retirement. Thanks to everyone involved for all the good times. She always ran her heart out, DeeTee's iron horse.

Agree with all that's been said, she tried hard every time and it was great to be a part of it all. Lot's of good memory's and hope she lives a long and happy life off the track.
I never made a race, so I don't know everyone to thank who made it possible except the obvious Chuck, Steve, Cheri and TC? |

As the only Dee Tee horse I had any piece of, she was just the balls. She'll be missed and hope she enjoys retirement.

KNS was a fun horse, she always tried hard. I'm glad Chuck got her, I remember she must of gained 50 lbs in two weeks coming into his barn. Hope she gets a good home.
