Default The Belmont....if it wet.

I posted this on the ESPN board a few days ago but I want to see if you guys agree. My read on the wet runners is a follows:

It would help:
Bob&John
Jazil
Steppenwolfer

It would really hurt:
Deputy Glitters
Sunriver
Hemingway's Key

And who knows about the rest. Is that your take on it as well?

Forecast says dry on Saturday so this should be irrelevant.

Perhaps, but I think it is supposed to rain all week before Saturday and last I heard there was a chance (although not a good one) that it would carry over to the weekend. I just want to cover every angle in case it does.
Plus 5-day out weather predictions are always a bit spotty.

Don't bother. The track super here is big on sealing the track, and he will do so all week long as long as its raining. They want that track to be fast on Saturday.

They will have that track in super shape before the Belmont. Even if it rains on Saturday morning, the track will be fast come 6pm.

I read maybe 20% chance of rain, so it should be fine. I think the rain just affected the ability to work on the track. Will jazil have a chance to work this week? If not, Does anyone think it will have an effect?

Jazil won't have his final work this week before the Belmont. He's only galloping...

Miraja, agree with the ones it will help. Don't know much about the ones it will hurt - have HK and Sunriver run poorly in slop before?

Yes. They both ran poorly in the Holy Bull on a sloppy track. Hemingway' Key ran a career worst 67 beyer that day and finished 11th.
The Holy Bull was the only race of Sunriver's career in which he finished out of the money, when he faded to seventh.

BanJo becomes the choice if it was wet, but I suspect we'd have to have weather like a couple of years when Empire Maker won before it was sloppy. It is interesting to think about Sunriver because he hated it last time and his style doesn't suit off going. I say it's interesting because he figures to be one of the favorites and would be a candidate to totally disregard. Deputy Glitters could be safely dismissed as well. His Wood was a disaster.

High Finance is your winner on any track surface. Not much in the race to beat.
