Afleet Express injured, out for the year
Travers Stakes winner Afleet Express will be sidelined the remainder of the year after suffering a slight tear of the suspensory ligament in his left foreleg, trainer Jimmy Jerkens said Wednesday.
The injury is not career-threatening and Jerkens said Afleet Express would be pointed to a 4-year-old campaign in 2011. http://drf.com/news/afleet-express-injured-out-year |

Zenyattas chances of running in the BCC just improved.

You think they would have ducked Afleet Express?

They ducked Rail Trip.

Im pretty sure no one has ever ducked Rail Trip. They are sticking to the original plan. I respect and admire them for it. Even with all the pressure she is still undefeated and wins HOY if she wins the Classic.

I think the easier the race is, the more likely they are to run in it.
Since hes one of maybe 2-3 3yos that might beat her, yes. |

JJ runners don't start too many times a year.

This is a shame. Let's not pollute a thread about the would-be classic winner with more Zenyatta bullshit.

Dick Jerardi mentioned on Monday in his column on the Pa. Derby that Afleet Express probably had issues.

An Afleet Express/Blame/Zenyatta stretch drive would've been an awesome spectacle, that's for sure.
Blame looked SERIOUS last out. His drive for home, visually, was as powerful as I've seen recently. He hit the gear that QR failed to.
