Administration Oil Spill Behavior

I expect every administration to cover-up, mislead, and occasionally just flat-out lie to people....when there is a discernible motive. But I'm not even sure what the logic of their behavior was here. An administration deceiving people to cover their own ass.....sure. But BP's ass?

Whatever their motivation, it seems that this whole thing may have been handled rather poorly.
