Is the same Intercoastal who ran second last in a $16K starter allowance as a 3/5 favorite in the opener today at Kee? Wouldn't expect to see him wheeled back on Saturday.

I would expect some of these horses (Battle of Hastings, Dubious Miss, Cherokee Artist) to scratch and run Thursday in the River City.

Successful Dan sure made that look easy.

He really did. It's understandable that the performance got lost a little with the Breeders Cup next week...but that was a huge performance and he handles dirt as well. Hopefully Lopresti can keep him sound next year, because he might be really good next year.

Lopresti on with me again this morning as he's as great a story as there is in racing right now and I can't get enough him on the radio. Was close to quitting the training side of things earlier last year to concentrate with his wife on their young horse breaking business. I met him last year when I wrote that B-H story about Cash Refund and Richard Klein explained what a great job Charlie and Amy do starting yearlings. Successful Dan was always the 'best horse in the barn' for Lopresti, and he worked through a pair of challenging issues with him. He'll go to the Clark and hopefully still has plenty of upside to him for next year.
