Default This can't happen often

I was handicapping the late Pick 3 at Portland Meadows (GFY...don't judge me) and the 9th race is a 6 horse field...and all 6 horses are coming out of the same last race. The lone scratch in the race was the winner of that last out race.

So, what was the finishing order last time, and what was it today? - and I hope you had it!

No shame in betting a little PM on a quiet Wednesday.

I thought the six might have got caught by the two if the two went outside instead of splitting runners. If you watch the jock on the two when he decided to go between horses he had to slow momentum for just a second, and that might have been the difference.

good picking guys!

You will be able to win it all back on the course from BT. He sucks. Besides...he's playing with clubs that are older than the ones Sandy Herd used to win the 1902 Open Championship.

Or a Monday afternoon. Or a Friday night, which used to be one of the things I looked forward to most every week when I lived out there.

Still like to keep tabs on the circuit, and was watching a race yesterday and thinking to myself "whoa, whoever it is riding the #2 (Mamoonya) looks like a man among boys out there riding," and it was Gutierrez, who used to dominate everything when I was out there.

Great little track -- and it always used to be fun to get to say hi to Twyla Beckner and Shawna Barber when they were riding. Always really nice, warm, and kind people riding there who had time to say hi to a fan.

You're right. Good memories involving horse racing and good people are not allowed. I haven't been active here for awhile, so I forgot.

I must have accidentally hit post before I was done and left out the second half, where I can assure you I originally typed:

but despite the good times I had there, racing is crooked, trainers are cheaters, I witnessed 11 breakdowns there each day, takeout was too high, the betting machines sucked, the beer was watered down, and it f*cking rained ALL THE TIME which I am sure was somehow the horses' fault in Portland.

Juan's a great guy, he rides sparingly here and does most of his work at Emerald each year, but he's always around 20% here.

Twyla now runs a Hummus company here in town and i believe Shawna married the old GM here Chris Dragone and moved back to NY with him, i think he has some kind of breeding operation
