Heard it as I was driving. He remarked that similarly to Frank Whiteley's comment about Ruffian, every time she went onto the track he held his breath (I paraphrase). Her retirement disappoints - leaves me wanting more.

Or anything at all for that matter.
She might have looked like a machine and all that -- but I didn't see anything in her performances to justify the attention she got. |

I felt her illustrious career was underwhelming.

Who do you like? You seem to diss a lot of horses. 3 this week, plus the insults about Gemologists campaign. For the record, I dont like Gemologist at all.

In other news, Gemologist suddenly became a lock to win the Kentucky Derby.
Ironically, the race is brought to us by Yum Foods. |

Yeah Nick, who do you like? All you seem to do is diss horses (3 this week apparently, but who is stalking...I mean counting anyway?) and that insult about Gemologist's campaign was just horrible.
You've really changed man. |

What is Doug O'Neil's record outside of California?

It's fine, 17%, $2.40 ROI. That number is bolstered by a few longshots but he hasn't done as much shipping in recent years.

Thanks, the exploits of Lava Man and Square Eddie had it clouded in my mind.

He was a first-ballot Hall of Famer on California form...and a $10,000 claimer away from it. Three Holywood Gold Cups, Two Big Caps, a Pacific Classic, a Sunshine Million Classics on both dirt and turf...first horse to ever win a Grade 1 on dirt, turf, and synthetic, over $5 million in earnings, Beyers in the 120 range at peak. Here is Lava Man's career record outside of California: * Sunshine Million Classic: 7th by 14.5 lengths behind 70/1 shot Musique Toujours. * Jockey Club Gold Cup: 7th by 45 lengths * Japan Cup Dirt: 11th place * Breeders Cup Classic: 7th by 16 lengths (Giacomo 4th by 4.5 lengths and Brother Derek 5th by 5 lengths -- Lava Man toyed with both in his prior start at SA in the Goodwood) * Dubai: 16th place and eased. He was literally 15-to-45 lengths better in So. Cal |

I hate when I ask questions and the answers are possibly obvious to all but me, but . . .
Why? |
