I live in the mountains. I just walk out my door.

I'm not talking about hiking from your front door to your car.

I have to hike miles up hill in the snow barefoot to get to my car you young whippersnapper.

I have hiked parts of the AT but lately (due to time restrictions called "work") I am limited to the Berkshires.

Actually we just got back from Saratoga. While there we stayed and hiked in the Adirondack Mts. We canoed 2.5 miles, hiked 2.5 miles to a waterfall(near Upper Ausable Lake of all places), hiked back down the Mountain and canoed the 2.5 miles across echo Lake and back to the Lodge.

We had not hiked in many years and it was a neat experience. It did "eat into" our time at the races, but it was priceless to see "fresh bear tracks" along the trail.....

Me too

I live in a fantastic area for hiking, yet I never get the chance to (time restraints). Would love to start though.

water (lots of it), layered clothing and/or sunblock, lug soled shoes.

something to eat if you're going out for a few hours.

now you're ready.

Sure if you like hills to stand in for your "mountains."

I can drive to the start of this hike in about 15-20 minutes from where I live. I think I want this to be my first one. Some of my friends hike and they say the view is absolutely amazing. I may wait until fall.

You better allow for a little extra time with that stride.

I went hiking in the North Georgia mountains, until I heard the banjo playing. Ran back to my truck...............

I hiked in Nisene a few weeks ago on a work trip, beautiful up there. Lots of pot farms though, need to be alert.
