Thrilled to see this thread! Yea it is time!!!
Humiliating to know the name of a single horse in this race but can't wait to see it anyway and also for news of the usual suspects (I would think you know my favorites by now so whenever you see their names please.....)! Happy birthday, kids! Ed how are you horses doing and why can I always think of Pinzaara but not the name of the other (soory!). |

Poor Veyron. Hope his injury isn't too serious.
http://www.hawkesbaytoday.co.nz/news...eturn/1488028/ Have you heard anything? You know what I don't get? How many G1s has he won and why does he never get any international press? Ridiculous. I see The Hombre is entered... http://www.nzracing.co.nz/Meetings/Meeting.aspx/40570 Hooray! |

Veyron's injury doesn't sound serious. He'll be back racing in time for the big ones around Christmas. He's won four G1s now! He's beaten horses like Mufhasa and Jimmy. Amazingly underrated horse.
Art Beat wins the Winter Cup! Innovation's winning streak came to an end, but she flew and got 2nd. My horses are all having a rest for the winter. |

Yep, he'll be much better and fitter next time. And the track is really wet there today, which he hates. Not to mention the big weight he had to carry. He shouldn't lose any fans for that effort today.

Oh my God are you kidding, that's the final field?
How on earth do you even bet these things with SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many fantastic horses? I mean it I have no idea how you guys over there deal with this kind of thing. My shortened list of horses to wish luck to is now down to 9 (and you know I am not kidding) so I won't even bother... I'd love to know 1. the odds and 2. if you have any idea why Guiseppina keeps jumping out at me here (yes ed I do expect you to read my subconscious thoughts now)! In my heart of hearts I do hope it's Mufhasa but will be thrilled for who(m?)ever wins. |

Odds:
Mufhasa $4.60f Justanexcuse $26 Fritzy Boy $15 Green Supreme $15 I Am Sam $41 The Hombre $26 He's Remarkable $13 Time Keeper $61 Khemosabi $61 Ocean Park $5.60 Fleur de Lune $6.50 Guiseppina $11 Art Beat $31 No Excuse Maggie $31 Innovation $26 Xanadu $9 Baby Guinness $31 Smoulder $31 Civics Rock $101 Torino SCR I like Guiseppina too, except she's never won on a track rated worse than good. It's not going to be too bad here, but it is going to be a rain-affected track. So that's the only question I have over her. One other thing worth mentioning is it's Fritzy Boy's FIFTH time in this race! 2008: 1st 2009: 9th 2010: 3rd 2011: 5th 2012: ? |

Kate wins the first at Hastings! A talented 3yo filly by St Reims (2002 NZ Derby winner). She's being set for the VRC Oaks at Flemington.

OCEAN PARK
Xanadu Justanexcuse (?!) Mufhasa (after a brutal speed duel with Khemosabi, who dropped out to last) Guiseppina Time Keeper Ocean Park now heads to Australia for the Underwood, then Caulfield Cup and/or Cox Plate. He's owned in Hong Kong, so he'll end up there in the not-too-distant future. |

Good for him! Wish it had been Mufhasa but very happy all the same and can't wait for full results.
Wasn't he scratched right before some big race last season or am I thinking of someone else? Could have sworn... Anyway I hope everyone made it home safe and can't wait for the replay. Thanks for the fast results!!!!! When is the next big race and who is pointed? |

You're right - he was scratched from both the NZ Derby and Australian Derby the day before both of those races last season! So it's great that his luck turned around today.
His mother, Sayyida, was a hugely talented filly who looked like a real rising star. But then she broke her leg in the G2 Avondale Guineas. They were able to save her life, and one of her first foals was Ocean Park. We have a few nice stakes races in the next couple of weeks, but the next really big race is the G1 Windsor Park Plate, back at Hastings on Sep 22. Early nominations for that one: http://www.nzracing.co.nz/Meetings/Meeting.aspx/40676 |
