Default NYRA broadcast may go dark in NYC during contract talks

Lookout new yawkers. contract is up today

http://www.drf.com/news/nyra-broadca...-new-york-city

BTW - anyone else disappointed in not seeing all the race replays on th Belmont 30 show which is now Belmont Insider. I welcome the Migs opinions but Blewitt is a mute on the new show and old.one. No reason to watch the new show as a magazine format. What a downhill slide since Pack.

Well couple of things. Jason is 1000% better then he used to be and continues to improve. He isnt there to be a world class handicapper, but clearly his has learned a ton since Serling has been at Nyra. He also is an excellent broadcaster who sets up the handicappers beautifully.

Pack is a legend and not replaceable but the NYRA TV product 2014 is niles ahead of what it was in 1984. From Trips and traps to the daily prattle the overall TV product is elite in Staes and continues to grow.

Agree. They also released a statement explaining their reasoning for changing the format of the show, which made sense to me. I wish they could live stream this to those who don't live in the area though.

Regarding the 5 borough coverage, there are infinite viewing options until a deal is in place, as Grening lays out.. "races will continue to be available on NYRARewards.com, NYRA’s ROKU channel, HRTV, and TVG" (not to mention any other ADW).. and you would expect the channel to be back by Wednesday when racing resumes anyway.

Regarding the broadcasting, there are only a handful of set hosts in the country that are as fluid and effortless in their delivery as Jason Blewitt. You don't have to like or rely on his opinion of races, but he is hardly someone whose presence is off-putting. He's one of the most affable and professional presenters involved in the telecasting of the sport.

Belmont Insider is infinitely more interesting and useful than a rote replay broadcast, especially given the availability of those replays 24/7 at NYRA.com minutes after race: http://www.nyra.com/belmont/videos/race-replay/

Couldn't say it better than Freddy and Steve already did. The Channel 71 thing is a non-story and anyone complaining about NYRA's broadcasts just has an axe to grind. No circuit in the country comes close to their quality or quantity, both TV and online.

Steve, while I respect your opinion, I do find him off-putting and mute him, just as others do to race callers they dislike . I find Mig interesting and Andy and Maggie too. To each their own. And, on 2nd thought agree with your point on the replays, I got used to it over the years, maybe it will grow on me.

I need to know what you find specifically off-putting about Jason. He's a terrific broadcaster, die-hard fan of the game and the perfect set-up man for Andy.
