Dubai Racing 2015
Another January, another Dubai carnival. Missed last week but like a trio of races this week.
Race 2: #5 Le Bernardin: G3 winner at MTH in 2012, but lightly raced since. Looks to be returning to his best and is in against a bunch unproven on the surface. 5-1 and upwards looks great. #9 Zain Eagle: Classy, classy bottom side, especially for the dirt, and ran well in his two AWT tries. Second to Farraaj, albeit getting a lot of weight, but may be the unknown that pops up. Race 4: #2 Maftool: Standout with an American pedigree. Handled the AWT. Shocker if he doesn't crush them. #10 Volatile: Demolished maidens on the dirt in Sweden, but backed that up with a G3 third in GB (turf). Trainer has been on fire in Scandinavia. They don't have a good record in Dubai but that mostly comes from the Petersen/Graberg combo. #9 Unorthodox: 25-1 winner on debut on the AWT. Tiznow on the dam's side. Exotics booster. Race 6: #6 Conveyance: Another with ancient USA form that's recently been lightly raced. However, his two 2014 runs were pretty good and he doesn't meet much here. Overlay. #7 Reynaldothewizard: Untouchable at the '13 carnival and wasn't disgraced last year. 9yo hasn't run on dirt in over 5 years. #8 looks to be the fav and smashed them on his yearlong layoff, but this is much tougher than his string of wins at Jebel Ali. Good luck! |

Oh wow it's been a while since I've heard that name (I liked him so much).
Hope you did well today, Kitan. |

Race 1:
#5 Speed Hawk: American breeding and has handled the AWT. Distance suits. Race 2: #13 Energia Fox: Mare has the form, but must handle the surface. #2 Farrier: Rough trip last out and now adds the blinkers. Always seems to be thereabouts. Race 3: #8 Cry Joy: Dirt and blinkers have turned him around. Expect further improvement. Race 4: #4 Our Channel: Returns as a 4yo with an opportunity to step up after two group placed efforts. #5 Pilote: Closed well in last and this is the easiest he's seen in a long time. #3 Steeler: Has not lived up to his 2yo form but has the chance to be there at the finish. #2 Tenor: Generally consistent and finished ahead of #3 in September. Race 5: #9 Edu Querido: Has dirt form early in his career in Brazil and the last out win will boost confidence. #3 Tamarkuz: Impressive return and no reason to believe he can't go one better this time. #2 Empire Storm: Overland throughout in a solid dirt debut. Exotics juicer. Race 6: #10 Decathlete: Well regarded as a 3yo and was double digit odds in a prestigious G1. 2nd as a 2yo to Karakontie. Ignore the dirt tightener. Worth a look at a price. #7 Red Ray: Comes to the De Kock barn after not being able to get over the hump in a big one in SAF. The one to beat if ready. #8 Ertijaal: Career stalled after a fine beginning. Goes equipment-less for the first time in four runs. Form reversal possible. #5 Anaerobio: Will be tough to follow last year's act but has a chance. Race 7: #5 Elidor: Upwards of 10-1 on a horse who ran third in the Ebor. Good luck! |

Le Bernardin (2nd night winner) goes around in the Maktoum Challenge Round 2. 10-1 or so looks great.
