![]() I was brought up on the photography of Cartier Bresson and the DECISIVE MOMENT.
Boy has the method changed since then. Still a great shot. Just saying. ![]() https://www.google.com/search?q=cart...g&ved=0CB0QsAQ https://expertphotography.com/top-10...resson-quotes/

To me, photography is the simultaneous recognition, in a fraction of a second, of the significance of an event as well as of a precise organization of forms which give that event its proper expression. The photograph itself doesn’t interest me. I want only to capture a minute part of reality. So of course you're right, he was a great artist and all BUT this cover, to me, captures it on many levels and for many reasons. The crowd holding up their phones and each snapping the same shot or video stamps its date... AP being part of the moment instead of the only subject... I doubt anyone wants me to drone on with my opinion but yes... respectfully, I think it is the perfect cover. ![]() |

![]() I enjoyed the photographer's description of the luck involved. He was essentially shooting blind, but, fortunately, not deaf:
“During the race I had no view of the track. The crowd had begun to stand on chairs and benches,” Rasco said. “The only way I knew to fire the camera as American Pharoah approached the finish was from the intensity of the crowd around me yelling and cheering. Based on that, I fired a burst of frames from my camera. I didn’t see any of the horses at the finish. I hoped I timed it right with the crowd guiding me.” (from http://www.si.com/horse-racing/2015/...ustrated-cover )
