Venue thoughts for October 15 . . .
I'm very tempted to play Hawthorne since they have "The Pizza Man" stakes. I mean that's really hard for me to pass up. But likely back to Keeneland for the $600K QEII Grade I Turf for 3YO Fillies.
Other throughts, reasonable or not???

Here's my unreasonable thought. With just over 3 weeks until the BC, most of the runners have had their final preps and the fields are taking shape. The QEII at Keeneland is always interesting and competitive, but usually doesn't have serious BC implications. As such, is this not an ideal time to play a track that we might normally ignore?
I think that most of us handicap and play in our contests because it is just plain fun. Why not pick a venue that you would find fun to play, and the rest of us will have a go at it. [I say this confident that there is no racing at Kamloops or Assiniboia this Saturday.] By the way, congrats on your sweep last Saturday. Looks as if the freshening was a benefit. |

Looking around, the pickings are slim. As long as Hawthorne doesn't have all 5 horse fields I'll play there.

Yep, we'll wait and see. We have the Maryland Millions next week, which we usually play this time of year.
