Water Pressure
Just a note to those that read this -
If you are attempting a repair on lets say the kitchen faucet, I would strongly recommend you turn the water pressure off BEFORE you remove said items like seals, springs etc. Holy cow their is a lot of water pressure going to the faucet on the kitchen sink - lol I was looking stupid for a couple seconds trying to figure out what I did wrong |

Okay, I'll give you one....it's been awhile, but I was painting the exterior of my parents house and I was cutting in around the a/c unit and just when I thought it was safe to start, the a/c kicked on and knocked the bejesus out of me. Bad news was I was on a ladder and was on the 2nd story.
Note to the house painters on DT...make sure power is turned off before painting near an outlet... |

If your gas gauge was broke in the car, would you use a match to check how much is in the tank ? Have you ever tried to check the oil, while the lawnmower is RUNNING ?... If the garden hose is frozen @ one end ..would you turn the water on.... and keep looking inside the other end waiting for the ice to come out ? Have you ever tried to wash ( with hose) a electric fan ..while its running so it will dry quicker ? Just some more ""Home Improvement"" tips for you !!!

That's a hilarious story. And it makes me feel better about living in a rental, where I'm supposed to call the super to come fix things. How do you turn off the water pressure, anyway?

it wouldn't hurt everyone, rental or not, to learn the basics such as where your shutoff valves are located, as well as circuit breakers--what goes where--mark your breakers.
every sink, toilet and so forth has it's own shut off valve-or should. there is also a main cut off. just remember, righty tighty, lefty loosy. lol also, never start a plumbing job after 3 pm. NEVER. why you ask? because just when things get going, and you realize you need something--the parts store will be closed. plumbing jobs never go well started late in the day. |
