Tom.. You're incredibly kind. Thank you. Career recognition is gratifying and having it come from peers/colleagues is especially meaningful. I got very lucky, relatively late in life, to be able to do something I'd always wanted to do.

Congratulations on an amazing accomplishment, which is very well deserved. This never would have happened at P&G!

Well done Steve. When I see those posts here from you at 3 and 4 o'clock in the morning, I am always amazed. Obviously, your work ethic is like that of only a few other people and whatever accolades you get are well deserved.

The long hours and dedication are generally not cumbersome when participating and contributing to something that you care about.

Thank you for your contribution to this sport.
Well deserved!

When starting Derby Trail on Yahoo in '02, I never imagined having a career complete enough for a distinction like this. Everyone that participated there and then here, made it possible. So when I say thank you, it's for much more than the congratulations. I cherish the privilege I've been afforded to present the game in the way(s) I do.

Default Carolina BBQ

On my second trip to Saratoga from South Carolina over 15 years ago I see this food stand "Carolina BBQ" and only because of my curiosity that such a place would exist I walked over and met this guy Steve Byk. From that I:

Started on here, Derby Trail
Went in on the first two Derby Trail horses, Sumwonlovesyou & Kick'n & Screaming
Started listening to the best horse racing show which has open the doors to understanding this game and hearing from every angle

Multiply that by all the people you've impacted, and big props for adding to the sport as well as people's lives.

From the humble beginnings on "At The Races and Beyond" with JJ & Sam to a Jim Mckay award recipient is quite an accomplishment. Since I started listening many many moons ago you have hit on subjects I never remotely would have given a second thought to. It started out about the handicapping but now segments like "Sire Watch"with Sid Fernando and the Tony Black and Mig interviews are always something to look forward to. There is just too much to say about the enjoyment you give to umpteen thousands of listeners daily. Hopefully this is the first of many more awards that should rightfully come your way. Congratulations to a most well deserved human being.

Compelled to add further appreciation for the most recent set of posts.. Hearing that the show and other related endeavors helped players/fans stay interested (or rekindled interest) in the game is the most gratifying expression I can receive. THX again to all for the ongoing support and warm well wishes.
