The horseback Paperboy - 1956
"A story in the Nov. 1, 1956, Los Angeles Times explains:
The age of internal combustion hasn’t caught up yet with 14-year-old Jim Fitzgerald of Sleepy Hollow. Jim is the Times carrier boy for this tiny community in rustic Carbon Canyon, between Brea and Chino, and he rides his route on horseback. Jim’s partner in private enterprise is Quelty, a 9-year-old mare of sorry conformation but sterling character. She is only a stack of bones in a sorrel sack, Jim admits." http://framework.latimes.com/2014/06...-on-horseback/ |
