Default Prado on Adore the Gold in FOY

Edgar Prado has reportedly committed to Mike Gorham to ride Adore the Gold Saturday in the Fountain of Youth. This lends further credence that Buffalo Man has been injured...

You don't honestly think he would choose Buffalo Man ( injured or not ) over Adore the Gold?

Well, that's interesting, Steve...

I'm dying to know what happened.

Hope you're right on ATG, should provide a lively pace. Very sporting to take on NOBIZ, in his 1st 2 turn race ( on memory here). Would have thought they would take an easier route. Hope they have alot of that Holy Water to sprinkle on his tootsies !

I don't know if I would call it " sporting " necessarily. At some point it's important to have an idea where you stand. I don't think NoBiz, as good as he may be, has exactly stamped himself as a horse to avoid.

So far at least I don't think anyone fits that description, a horse to avoid. There simply is nobody that strong.

NoBiz has been my top choice for a long time but my confidence in him has slipped a bit. I'm looking for him to show a new dimension in the FOY.

I feel exactly the same way. Right now there are a number of horses that might be pretty good but nobody has come close to seperating himself from the field.

Save Dreaming of Anna of course.

I have liked him as top choice as well but agree 100% with comments about "new dimension". He seems to still be figuring things out and granted he might just do that by Derby day, but I am not at all impressed with who he has beated, ie Scat Daddy and Zanjero. Drums of Thunder might be Ok down the line I guess, but all in all he is winning on sheer ability while seemingly still goofing around.

Adore the Gold is my Derby horse as of right now. . . I better bet him big on Saturday because that'll probably be the last time he'll be a decent price. . .

While he is not necessarily a horse to avoid, ATG will be taking on the #1 ranked horse with a solid 2yo foundation, and experience at 2 turns. Seems a tough placement to go 2 turns the first time ( if my memory serves). Agreed that they have to find out where they stand, guess I'm just a little conservative , but I welcome seeing him perform.

Adore the Gold easily won the dover around 2 turns at Delaware against some decent horses. With his speed and versatility, I think he's got a huge chance in the FOY if he draws reasonable. Dreams of Thunder gets back to 2 turns as well, which he'll love.

Didn't ATG finish up the track in the Remsen behind NoBiz?

"The progress of Notional, Liquidity, and Merv Griffin-owned Cobalt Blue has forced O'Neill to divide and conquer in the hopes of keeping those horses apart as long as possible. Notional, for instance, won the San Rafael Stakes here in January, traveled to New Orleans to win the Risen Star Stakes on Feb. 10, and will make his next start in either the Florida Derby on March 31 or the Wood Memorial at Aqueduct on April 7.

"Wherever Nobiz Like Shobiz goes, we won't go," Dennis O'Neill said.

Until Derby Day, that is. "

http://www.drf.com/news/article/82893.html

" Like Gorham, O'Neill also showed great respect for Nobiz Like Shobiz, who he is hoping to avoid along the Derby trail.

"He kicked our butts (in the grade I Champagne where Nobiz finished second and Liquidity ran ninth)," he said. "I was standing right next to Barclay. They were so proud of that horse and they should be--he's a beast when you stand next to him. Not only does he have the look, but he has extremely fast numbers. If you can avoid that horse before the big dance, it would be good."

Prado's other mounts for the remaining preps look to be filling up as well:
