Baba...some thoughts on Millennium
I've now watched over half of the first season...it's good, very good...very dark and disturbing and plays on the Y2K fears somewhat...looking back at it I guess it loses some punch cause we all survived Y2K without Armageddon but it's still an interesting trip into the darkness and evil of the human mind...I understand season two takes a totally different route (Millennium group becomes evil) but season one is a lot of "serial killer of the week". Frank Black is an interesting character...very troubled, very long-suffering. I like it so far but once I'm finished with an episode, I don't sit and ponder it like with Forever Knight. There are a few exceptional episodes however!

Ok, it's getting strange now! Good but very very dark! Episode 20 featured a horse slaughterhouse, damn that was upsetting! If you've never seen one in person...you don't want to!!

OK, I'm through season two now...it was a bit uneven but overall very good! There were a couple episodes that were completely apart from the rest of the show, they did nothing to advance the arc but were very funny! And, what can I say...the two part season finale featured the entire album version of Patti Smith's Horses...what's not to like?

Final installment...I'm through the third season and the included XFiles episode done I guess to tie up some loose ends. Overall, the third season was a train-wreck (especially the episode involving a train wreck...made no sense to me???). There are some good episodes and the introduction of Frank's new partner was well done...liked the character and the actress). I think they tried a bit too hard to be intellectual...the whole series is filled with Christian mythology and doomsday scenarios, got old after awhile. Frank Black is a great character...very tortured throughout. The episode with Kiss playing and the band members serving as extras was pretty funny but predictable. The XFiles episode featured zombies...very XFiles, very not Millennium. Overall, I'd say it's a good series, very dark with some of the mythology familiar (think DaVinci Code), some thought-provoking but inconsistent in that regard. Well below Forever Knight which I'd recommend above most anything on TV.
