![]() I don't see anyone mentioning this horse. I think he is somewhat " under the radar ". True, he has been off since the Delta win in December, but I see this horse improving with each start, and should relish the long stretch at FG. Yes, the jockey is a minus, but I see value here and with Imawildandcrazyguy who was gaining and was visually impressive in his last race. I think IWCG hits the board.

![]() if he moves forward like he has been and matures from his freshman season then we will see his " good race " saturday. I also like his works and work pattern.

![]() I am not going out and saying " he will win " or " he is a lock " i am simply saying that he is a nice horse and should move forward and is somewhat " under the radar " and offers some value, I will use him in multirace exotics. He certainly will NOT be an only.

![]() I see him as the 4th best closer in a race short on speed. You also have three stalkers those closers are going to have to run down coming off 102, 99, and 96 Beyers. Even if I didn't think Ketchikan was our future Derby winner and tossed him I'd still have no interest in backing Birdbirdistheword.

![]() I said it a few months ago and I'll say it again, I think the derby winner will come out of this race. Just a vibe.

![]() First....why would anyone think the jockey is a minus on birdbird? Robby is at home where he has been the leading rider many times, has great familiarity with the long stretch and is EVERY bit as good as any jock in the race. Also, whoever thinks Al Stall can train a derby winner (any derby, not just the KY Derby)....can you please buy some of my oceanfront property in Arizona?

Robby Albarado is Louisiana native. He has been aboard each of Bird's three lifetime victories. He is second leading rider at current FG meet. Out-of-town riders, even top-flight ones, often have trouble with long FG stretch -- either moving too early or too late. Between 3/16 & 1/8 poles winner will likely emerge. I saw one national service that discounted Bird's Delta performance. Comments alluded to 3-turn bullring race -- oops! Delta has 3-furlong chute that feeds its 6-furlong bullring which yields 2-turn 8.5 furlong configuration. So, consider carefully what others publish who don't attend races off the beaten path. Going to New Orleans tomorrow for Big Day in Big Easy... good luck all. |

![]() I don't understand the fascination with this horse. . . his top Beyer is an 87. . . I'm interested in watching Ketchikan run, though. . . He could be a good one

In reading and re-reading some of Andy Beyer's work, he emphasizes that while this is an important factor to consider -- it is not only one to consider. My personal fascination is that I have seen Birdbirdistheword run two outstanding races. And I didn't mention this in earlier posting, I watched Delta Jackpot for racetrack apron where I could see entire track on brisk December night. Last point, please read Randy Moss' comments at www.drf.com. These are contained is Moss Pace Figure comments. Randy who works as Beyer associate made Delta Jackpot BSFs! The 86 was downgraded by 12 points because of torrid pace scenario. Does an 98 make you feel better about this horse? I will gladly accept third win at above 5-to-1 on superior horse! Gotta dash to New Orleans now! |

![]() I'm interested in what Bird can do also. I know McPeek told Steve he was very high on the horse and was glad he was in the background cause he was going to surprise. How much he improves is the thing, but since these are just kids learning the game he perhaps can produce a big move forward.
Good luck Spyder from SC

![]() I see this as a very useful race for Bird... Remember this isn't the big prize...
Soaring by will be sent to the front... If Bird goes after early.. he may not be fit enough to last... If he waits too long... he will have to swing 6 wide turning into the stretch and that will be a problem as other horses seem more fit... IMO this is only a tune-up.... Pletcher will win this race... He may win 3 or 4 today....

"Birdbirdistheworld is questionable from the opposite perspective. He comes out of the $1 million Delta Jackpot, in which the pace was almost unbelievably fast. Birdbirdistheword and Pirates Deputy raced at the rear early, four lengths behind the rest of the pack, and yet finished one-two when the speed collapsed. The Beyer Speed Figure of 87 is debatable. I know that because as an associate of Andy Beyer in the making of the Beyer numbers, I actually made that figure. It was projected downward by about 12 points because of the pace, and a couple of horses closer to the pace meltdown have predictably come back to run higher numbers. But Pirate’s Deputy, who got an 86 in the race, has returned to run 84 and 80 in his subsequent starts. Whatever the number, Birdbirdistheword had a perfect setup when he took down the big jackpot at Delta."

![]() Nothing from the bird. . . CQ ran a nice race but I think Ketchikan wins it with a better jock. . .
