Default somer-felix monserrate

i believed i heard you say this guy is a friend of yours or atleast a acquaintance. well he has a horse in his barn that my trainer had last year till he got claimed away named danny c(theres pics of the horse on my webshots page). well the reason why im writing this is because of my concern for the horse. im not talking bad about felix but i was wondering if you could contact him or put me in touch with the man. danny has been run excessively the past year@penn and finger lakes among other tracks. ive been getting equibase notices on the horse so often im not sure how many races exactly hes run since leaving chicago last spring but its been quite a bit and hes had no real time off and ive been worried about the horse with him racing so much. last time out about a month ago he was pulled up, i was worried that was it for him but atleast he did recover apparently, i found this out how? just got another equibase notice that hes scheduled to run again this week@ finger. again idont know felix and im not saying anything negative about him but im really concerned about the horses well being and would like to be put in contact with the trainer. thanks in advance for any help you might be able to offer

Playa I dunno how that will be met. You can get a trainers phone number usually from calling the track and asking for the stable gate.
But calling a guy about a horse you own none of and telling him what to do isnt gonna go over well. And since hes a claimer hes not gonna tell you about the horses condition lest you be a guy fronting for someone looking to claim him. I'd pass on that buddy.

im not looking to claim the horse to race, i wanna stop this horse from running in the future and take him off the track! if need be i would purchase the horse privately off the guy is hes willing to do so for a reasonable price. mike i understand there are horses like this at every racetrack across the country, but i know this horse personally and i dont wanna see him have to be put down. im not looking to get in contact with the guy to yell or fight with him or tell him what to do i would just like to talk to him. if somer cant help me then ill have to try contacting him through the track itself like you suggested

John and Mike,
Please excuse me for jumping in.
Felix M has done a great deal to find homes for retiring horses from FL.
I've never met him. Just heard about his good efforts.
If a horse isn't going to be running anymore, he does his best to find a home.

Playa I know that buddy. The only reason I say that is because I have a friend who breeds em and races some that she cant sell but sells most. She loves the babies she raises as if they are dogs or cats. She has called trainers up before to see how her "baby" is doing. Some will talk to her and some have been very rude to her and said she has no business asking about how the horse is doing. Was just trying to warn you that a response may not be in the positive.

thanks. yeah i imagine some on the backstretch would take it negatively or as a insult. theres a story they show now and again on tvg about a old man who took his winnings a horseplayer to claim some old horse from suffolk i believe and gave the horse a home on a farm somewhere. again i understand theres horses being sent out there to run in bad shape everyday and most do make it back but some dont becuase of the added risk put in. i hope this guy isnt taking any extra risk with danny this week

I find that very honorable. And I have stalls if you need one in VT on a temp. basis.

Me too, Playa, I wish more owners were like you. I'm in Southern Cal, but if I can help you out with a stall, I have an empty big corral right now, maybe we could find this horse a nice new career.

John,
I'm going to the farm tomorrow. I'll try to make some calls and get you a phone number.
If I'm successful, I'll pm you.

thanks guys for the kind responses and offers and wayne it would be appreciated if you can find anything out! most likely they will not wanna sell the horse before the race. im sure if he wins or runs well some will jump all over me here but believe me people some of the horses that you watch and bet on everyday go out there basically half crippled and some of them still win...if some only knew! i wish i was rich and could buy up every horse that needs to be taken off the racetrack but unfortunately im not but like i said i do know this horse personally and if i can save him id like to do so. i just hope this guy is sending him out ok, heres a picture of danny c when he was here @hawthorne last spring
