Default Street Cry and Smart Strike score big today

I'm really happy for these two stallions, I've liked them for awhile now. Kind of a shame that Tiznow and Albert the Great didn't end up in a better position. Street Sense brought Street Cry a Derby winning son and Smart Strike got Curlin at 3rd and Sedgefield 5th. I'm sure Darley and Lanes End are bouncing off the walls. SC has a $50,000 fee and Smart Strike is $75,000 right now. What do we think they'll get out of this? I think this sort of finish helps some stallions more than others. I'm not sure that people crawled all over themselves to get to Holy Bull to the same extent as with Distorted Humor for example.

Is Sedgefield going to press on dirt or is he going to go turf? It just seems that with his breeding it's like taking candy from a baby. Big bro English Channel has those 2 G1s on turf last year.

I hardly think that Smart Strike's reputation or status will be affected by a third and 5th in the Derby. It sure does give Street Cry a nice boost though.

I dunno. I think Curlin in particular might help out Smart Strike. I agree Street Cry's boost will be biggest. I wasn't about to pick Curlin here but I appreciated his ability. When I look at it though I think SS's fee is perhaps a little high but he's actually underrated I think. The credit he gets needs to go up, the price tag down, but that might not happen if demand was decent and he's got horses like Curlin doing well.

The funny thing is I'm more a fan of Street Cry as a stallion than I had been of him while he was racing. I think it was because there must've been some horse I liked and I felt threatened by him, I dunno. A little projection going on. Obviously he's very classy as he's proven. I hate it when being petty about something makes me resent a horse I have no reason to do anything other than enjoy.

Smart Strike sires lots of crooked legs which makes him a little scary but he is an excellent sire.
