Default Grade I Winner Lite Light Dead at 19

Lite Light has died after delivering a MIneshaft filly. She also leaves behind a Vindication colt and a Grand Slam filly. RIP beautiful girl. Thank you for all the thrills. This fan will miss you.

God, the horse that gave us Hammer shirtless waving his blue leather vest in the Belmont box area will always have a special place in my heart.

And of course, who can ever forget Hammer's first words in the post-CCA Oaks press conference........" where's Paseka? "

I remember his group at LAD when they ran her in the Super Derby. The one Calvin rode Free Spirits Joy to a win at about 40/1. Followed the rail all the way only this one was a front running win. I cant remember the 2nd place finisher but Zeeruler was 3rd I think. Second coulda been the bobbed tail horse from Socal.

Damn that sucks , she was such a nice filly acted like a old pro when she was just a baby , I had the great fortune of getting on her a few times when she was a 2 yr old at Turf Paradise at Punk Cheeney's barn when Mr Finley still owned her . Im sure he was there at the gates of heaven waiting to give her a pat, rest in peace classy girl.

On an interesting side note , Mr Finley sold her for 1 million dollars to MC Hammer , at the time everyone told him that he sold her too cheap , his reply was that , that money would keep him in horses for the rest of his life.
After she was sold and the deal was done Mr Finley being the kinda old cowboy like guy that he was , learned that he had sold his filly to a black man ( he didnt know who Mc Hammer was ) at that news he said he would have rather kept her and rode her to the store and back than sell her to him lol.

Did you know Mr Finley ? Very interesting self made man , always very good to all the people around the barn handing out hams and hundred dollar bills during the holidays . He had a very good eye for horse flesh and really never paid very much for any of them and had quit a few turn out to be stakes winners and good allowance horses some are Miss L Attack and Red.
I dont know how anyone else could remember the story differntly unless they were at barn D 3 at Turf paradise on that Sunday morning , there were a few more adjectives that he used , but I didnt think that they needed to be re-said.

We are obviously not talking about the same "Mr. Finley" -- is it Jack Finley you are talking about?
