This is one for the Chicago folks.

I do know that the University of Illinois is there, that's a good thing for a 25yr old single guy with a job.

You are about 3 hours south of Chicago, the Bears fall practices are about 90 minutes north of there.

Lot of Chicago tang there, as a 25 year old single dude, you should do well. It is a very frat'y community though. It is also very farmy. Kinda in the middle of nowhere.

It's heaven for a 25-year-old single guy. Soybeans to the left, corn to the right, the odd dairy cow in the road, but the University population is huge, international, diverse, urbane, sophisticated, and all their big minds are down there. Always lots going on, extremely easy to meet people. Very affordable place, too. You're only a couple good hours drive from Chicago (very easy to spend weekends there).

No, southeast of there. I'm in Lincoln, which is a little south of bloomington. I guess I'm more west of Champaign than north.

Absolutely. I spent a lot of time there for work in the 90's. All of the above is true. It's a great town. As I recall, the OTB there even had tablecloths.

Hey, forgot about that - you're right! Very nice place.

Yes, an OTB ... all the essentials in Urbana-Champaign.
