Sunday Break & Irony
Steve was talking about how generous NY is when it comes to declaring horses non-starters, "and it was the favorite". It was ironic that the very next topic he brings up the fact that Sunday Break had sired a horse that was racing tomorrow.
Sunday Break was a favorite that fowled a horse or was it the field? and because he was a favorite they did nothing. They seem convinced that looking the other way when a favorite is involved was good for racing. That more people would be happy. And people think I am crazy to think that odds influence the stewards decisions. I would have called in and raised that question but gee not taking any calls. |

As is the case frequently, I'm having trouble deciphering what you mean. There is nothing the stewards can do about refunding money when there are DQ decisions made within a race. Is that you ascertion?
In NY, they can and do refund on 'non-starter' scenarios more than anywhere else in the country.
