A Green Monkey-esque Filly to debut soon
Patricia's Gem, who worked a blinkered furlong in 9 3/5ths over Keeneland's polytrack - and was caught galloping out a quarter mile in 20.21 seconds - at the KEE April 2yo under-tack show looks to be on-track for an Oak Tree debut.
After that quick polytrack work, the daughter of Mineshaft out of a Forty Niner mare sold for $1.75 million. Her 2nd dam is the Del Mar Oaks winning turf specialist Stylish Star. Patricia's Gem is believed to be in Dick Mandella's southern california barn, she worked 5 furlongs in 58 flat out of the gate at Santa Anita yesterday. I'm a little interested in watching this one - I have a hard time imagining a Mineshaft filly being quick. |

Forest Danger was bought for 900K at the same sale as TGM....only three years earlier.
He is now standing stud - passing on his soundness and durability to the future generations. |

God I loved watching Mineshaft run. I love that style. Efficiency. Head down. All business. No waste. |

Also a side note , the track at Santa Anita is usually a few ticks faster down the backside and so its really not that hard to get a fast gate work , I wish I could have seen the work to see if she was being pushed or not. Oh well Ill be back to work on Monday so I guess Ill find out then .

I know I'm bringing up an old thread, but Patricia's Gem is set to debut on Saturday at Santa Anita at 6 furlongs. I would assume this would be too short for her, but I'm really excited. From what I could see in pics from the Keeneland sale, she's a beautiful filly.........Hope she runs well - it sounds like she's supposed to be the goods
