![]() Well, it was a beautiful day for the MassCap to return to Suffolk Downs, the weather was picture perfect. I thought Suffolk did a great job hosting the MassCap. I didn't run into any other DTers, that would have topped off the day! It was difficult to locate anyone since approximately 98% of the crowd was proudly wearing the giveaway hat - I looked out and could only see an ocean of gold/beige heads.
Our Man Willie Martinez did very well today, he rode in three races today, won 2 of them and came in 3rd behind coupled Godolphin entries - not shabby at all. Great job Willie (can't wait to see him back up on SWLY). I thought it was interesting that he rode 2 horses by Lit the Fuse - On the Vineyard (won in the 7th) and Roman Candle (3rd in the 9th) Lit the Fuse also sired Going Ballistic who won the Super Derby today. I was pleased to see him win on Vineyard Haven for two reasons, 1 - I bet him to win and 2. I was betting on Brass Hat to win the MassCap and thought this was an auspicious sign There was a great crowd at Suffolk. Sheik Mohammed was represented for the very first time ever at Suffolk Downs with two very legit horses, Afrashad and Council Member, they ran 1,2 respectively with Willie coming in third on Roman Candles. There was a potential bridge jumping scenario set up with over $158,000 in the show pool and more than $152,000 of it on the Godolphin coupled entry. Fortunately they won and the harbor has not been filled in with despondent horseplayers. I took a bunch of pictures - here is the link in case you are interested. There are a bunch of pictures of Brass Hat and Evening Attire - I know they have plenty of fans on this board. Evening Attire was very well received - when the horses were being introduced he received a huge round of applause at the first mention of his name. What a game gelding. http://www.kodakgallery.com/Slidesho...e&conn_speed=1 Last edited by SuffolkGirl : 09-22-2007 at 10:19 PM. |

![]() Great Pictures. Do you do that just for fun or do you have a prof. gig. there are very impressive.
Yeah it stinks I didn't meet up with any fellow DT'ers. For the first time since I can remember they didn't have the big Bud Tent like they did in the past. But my brother and I hung where "it" would have been sitting in the last bench closet to that area just after the final turn. I left my orange Titeleist hat on all day hoping someone would recognize me. ONe did but from the DeL Mar forum site so we hung out for a bit and it was cool. bult no dt'rs. Yes it was an awesome day weather wise. 'Suffolk downs did a pretty good job of handling the crowd. Could have had a few more tellers available. Lines got pretty long as the day went on. But overall no complaints. Good time and I won a little bit. So that is always a plus. Again sorry didn't run into anyone but I'm sure they all had a good time as well.

![]() Lovely pictures.
I think we must have been sitting near each other in the stands! But, for the MassCap, I was pushed up against the rail where the winner's circle meets the paddock, so I think I got some nice paddock pictures. No race pictures, of course, as the ladies between me and the rail decided to climb on the railing to watch the race. I could see the race... I was changing my camera battery when Martinez started throwing petals to the crowd and then hopped off and hugged Brass Hat's groom... dang. So, I must go offline and upload my pictures. |

![]() I'm a big fan of Brass Hat, since his Rushaway win in fact, but I must admit that Evening Attire is a prettier horse. Could be a nice show hunter after he retires.

![]() Very nice pictures, thanks. I was in attendance as well, spent most of the day in The Terrace dining area, but did not see any DT'ers. I was wearing my Dee Tee cap, but like you said, everybody was wearing a similar looking giveaway cap. We were fortunate enough to be offered a table, as our group was standing around there early and a reserved table went unclaimed. I had a great day wagering for once.
Finished the day off in S. Boston at Amrhein's Restaurant. If you've never been there, you have to go. Try Boston's Best Steak Tips. Phenomenal. |

![]() I was in attendance as well. Anyone that frequently hit Suffolk Downs had to have a smile on their face on Saturday. What a great turnout for the big day. I had a great time with my dad and my brother. I actually hit the late pick three to salvage my day financially by hitting the ALL button in the 1st leg and catching the 50-1 shot winner. Afrashad and Brass Hat rounded out a nice ticket, all in all Im very happy to have been there.
