Churchill Downs - Race 6 - 2-year-old STEAM
FYI...The sixth race at CD today looks like one of the better 2YO maiden races of the meet on paper....a lot of nice young horse flesh in there and I keep pretty good tabs on the babies here.
I really think Unbridled Express will win as the deserving favorite..he exits another nice maide heat where he was very green and ran in spots...he is a gorgeous Unbridleds Song colt and has immense talent...the race under his belt makes him a winner today and he has a bright future if they keep him sound... As for first time starters, Passport is a talented colt and has had some very nice breezes in company, but he figures to take money based on his pedigree....BUT, another colt who has really been impressive in training that will be a solid price is Street Sense...this colt has some very good workouts in company with older horses and appears to be very talented...the problem is that his trainer is 0-for the century with firsters and this colt is a Street Cry, so he should be most effective going long......On paper, he is not that attractive of a betting interest and will easily be 10-1 or higher.... STEAM in my opinion is giving away information on a horse that you can't get in the Form or a program and good STEAM should always be a solid price because of the risk factor, and this colt will be 10-1 or higher...I hate STEAM that is 8/5 and then when it loses, you think to yourself "Why did I bet that horse at 8/5 because someone else told me he was Steam?"....That is the worst....never bet Steam that is a short price because you'll lose more than you'll win and that is a fact.... I will be keying Unbridled Express and playing Passport and Street Sense under him the most with a few others like Shipmate - who should close late and get a small peice of this, and Trust Your Luck - a Helen Pitts firster who has been semi-impressive in the mornings but not as mush as Street Sense or Passport as far as first time starters...Elite Squadron should obviously improve second out and needs to be used underneath too, and although Beta Capo is not one of Asmussen's better babies it is still an Ass-man 2YO so you know he will be the first out of the gates and needs to also be used in the minor spots of any exotics.... Again, Unbridled Express will be very tough in here as the favorite, but if anybody is looking to beat him with a longshot then you may want to consider the first-time starter Street Sense who should run very big in here at very generous odds...Good Luck! |

Nice Call Joel
Joel:
Great call in CD baby race - 6. No sweat with first two finishers. Placed a nice win bet on the winner and had the exacta a few times.... Lukas takes the money and again goes down the drain.... Thanks again,, Paul |

Every now and again you get lucky sand read races right....I did have 7,11 / 7,11 / ALL and it paid off...I really thought they were the two best horses in the race based on what I saw in the mornings, but you never really know with babies....just got lucky, really...
Unbridled Express had a huge advantage with a start under his belt and drawing towards the inside...it was hard to see him lose this race with Bejarano because you figure she would get a good ground-saving trip on the inside close to the pace and he displayed a lot of ability while racing green in his debut....As for Street Sense, he ran well considering his wide post and trainer who is HORRIBLE with firsters...plus, this horse is clearly bred to be better around two turns so watch out when Street Sense stretches out....nice colt.....I really thought that Shipmate would close for third but I was glad to see a buster come in to boost the TRI.......it worked out! Hope everybody cashed....I usually won't come with STEAM unless I really like it and I think the price will be fair enough to bet on for people who don'tknow me or the source of the STEAM..... |

Nice call here.
The horse looked great. Little dissapointed his price dropped so far, but a win is a win. Nice trifecta if you played ALL underneath Unbridled Express and Street Sense. |
