Default Chris Antley

For those who may have read the DRF or caught a little of the opinions floating about on the OTB show this weekend...should Antley ever be in the Hall of Fame?

Personally, I think so.

It really doesn't matter to me because the concept of Hall of Fames and award shows are ridiculous and insincere.

I say induct him and his coke dealer.

He was a better rider than at least half the people in the Hall of Fame and has the credentials.

I was surprised that it was even a question since he was so talented...although didn't he serve a suspension and/or loss of license due to a drug positive?

I wonder if it will ever be a question when Pletcher is up for nomination?

Always liked the "Ant-man". Definitely belongs in the Hall.

Andy,

When Chris was on his game and in the right frame of mind....he was one of the best. he was a personal favorite of mine early on in his career.

You couldn't be more right.....at least this time...lol.

Well...it was drugs that did him in at the end . But, he was good as any when it came to riding horses...no matter what his personal demons were, he paid the ulitmate price. With that said, he should get consideration on his racing ability.

Chris Antley was one of my favorite jockeys. His life came to an end too soon. He had some problems and unfortunately those problems led to his tragic death. He sure could ride. There is no question that he should be in the Hall of Fame.

I think it would bother D. Wayne Lukas if Chris was inducted into the HoF. So... I'm all for it. Doesn't make any difference to me one way or the other.

I think Cindy Noll should be in the Hall of Fame.

Lukas has always said the Antley-Charismatic thing was romanticized way beyond what it was.

Right, but while I'm sure that was what was being referenced, I also doubt Lukas would say Antley didn't belong in the Hall of Fame.

A while after Antley's unfortunate death, Lukas spoke out about how Antley's supposed great love for Charismatic was being, to say the least, overexagerated. He basically said if Antley cared so much about the horse how come he never even visited him between races. Say what you want....Lukas would know.

Lucas complained nearly a year after the Belmont, that Ant didn't come see how Charismatic was doing the day after the injury. What he didn't tell the reporter was that Ant flew to the West Coast the night of the Belmont Stakes and rode" Magicalmysterycat" to victory for Lucas the very next day in the Cinderella Stakes at Santa Anita. Lucas made several comments to reporters well after the Belmont race that he didn't think Ant rode Charismatic correctly that day. IMO he is still bitter about not winning the Triple Crown. Ant wasn't perfect, but there is no doubt his accomplishments on the track surely qualify him for the Hall of Fame.

He also talked about Antley never coming by the barn between races....I believe.

Antley gave Charismatic a horrendous ride in the Belmont. The unfortunate events after the race saved him from being murdered in the press.

Desormaeux can school any jock riding today. He is one of the best Turf Jocks and is one of FEW jocks who uses thier brains and not instict when riding a horse.

Other smart Jockeys include:

Jerry Bailey
Chris McCarron
